Yogyakarta, June 12, 2026 — The Global Engagement Office (GEO) of FISIPOL UGM is once again hosting the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences International Short Course (FISCO) 2026. Taking place over two weeks from June 8 to 19, 2026, this program highlights contemporary Indonesian issues emerging amidst digital transformation.
Held using a hybrid method that combines online and offline attendance, FISCO 2026 has successfully attracted the interest of 56 applicants from both within the country and abroad, with several specific requirements. For Indonesian citizens, this program is open exclusively to FISIPOL UGM students.

“The participants are mostly international students who have never been enrolled as exchange or course students at UGM. There are also several Indonesian students, but it is only open to FISIPOL students,” stated Oki, a representative of the Global Engagement Office (GEO) at FISIPOL UGM.
This participant configuration was deliberately designed to spark inclusive discussion dynamics while simultaneously realizing the faculty’s commitment to providing a high-quality, globally-minded educational ecosystem. In the classroom, students can directly exchange perspectives, build cross-border partnerships and networks, while analyzing Indonesia’s local sociopolitical context amidst the currents of digitalization.

The experience offered by FISCO 2026 does not stop at classroom lecture sessions. The program, which is equivalent to 3 credits (SKS) and 36 hours of intensive learning, is planned to be completed within two weeks, covering a diverse range of topics from gender issues, social inclusion, cultural diversity, platform capitalism, the green internet, and many more. Participants are also directly invited to immerse themselves in the richness of Yogyakarta’s cultural heritage through a Cultural Excursion on Thursday (11/6). The participants visited the Sonobudoyo Museum for an educational guided museum tour, followed by a hands-on batik-making practice.

Following the cultural excursion agenda, participants are given a break on Friday (12/6) which is filled with a self-study session. The exploration will then resume with a visit to the slopes of Mount Merapi through the Lava Tour agenda scheduled for Saturday (13/6).
Through this program, FISIPOL UGM demonstrates its commitment to building a multinational academic dialogue that runs parallel to strengthening global networks, cultural preservation, and sustainability.
