Fisipol UGM Holds BNSP Certification with GeTI, Dozens of Participants Enthusiasticly Participate in Training

Yogyakarta, 23 February 2024—To support the empowerment and development of workforce competency, the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences UGM together with the Lembaga Pelatihan Kerja (LPK) Global Education Talent Incubator (GeTI) held “Industrial Certification and Assistance for Young Entrepreneurs” on Friday (23 /2). The program is technical guidance from training held by GeTI and has been attended by dozens of students and lecturers from various faculties at UGM.

“I would like to thank UGM for supporting this event. This is not just just training and exams. Basically, the process is like that, but the big goal is that we want to invite all of our friends to enter an era where the stages of becoming an industry player are getting faster. To become an entrepreneur, from small to large, it is all in our hands,” explained Divera Wicaksono, Academic, Incubation, & Business Director of GeTI.

The development of the digital era has had a major influence on the world of work. Even though many new jobs and professions are opening up, the available workforce is also increasing. According to Divera, the current workforce is not accompanied by the competencies required by the industry. Therefore, it is important for young people or people of working age to obtain certification and standardization to improve their competence.

Support was also conveyed by the Dean of Fisipol UGM, Dr. Wawan Mas’udi, S.IP., MPA, Ph.D. “Initially we built this collaboration because we realized there was a lack of understanding of current industrial needs. So this training is a solution regarding how this market system works. Hopefully, this program will continue to exist to produce competent workers according to the field and industry needs. I agree, after this certification, if we can, we can produce entrepreneurs,” said Wawan.

According to Wawan, the opportunity to obtain competency certification does not only open up opportunities for students to gain added value as workers. But it is also hoped that entrepreneurial spirits will emerge who want to build businesses and participate in helping to absorb the workforce. This urgency is also driven by the demographic bonus in 2045, where Indonesia will experience a period full of challenges, opportunities, and threats.

GeTI training and certification have been validated by the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP). Participants who have taken part in the training and passed the exam will immediately receive a certificate that is recognized nationally. The enthusiasm for GeTI training is also supported by other faculties at UGM, such as the Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Faculty of Economics and Business, and Faculty of Animal Husbandry. Even though they have different focus areas and disciplines, employment urgency occurs in almost every sector.

“We from Fisipol are very happy to be able to collaborate with GeTI, as well as provide other faculties with the opportunity to join. “This collaboration is complete because this program can not only help participants, but also help the growth of MSMEs, help national companies, and of course boost the national economy,” said Wawan. The GeTI training program with Fisipol UGM is also an implementation of the 17th Sustainable Development Goals, namely partnerships to achieve goals.
