FISIPOL UGM Launches Family Wellness with Co-parenting Concept

Yogyakarta, June 2nd 2022─The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) UGM has officially launched a new facility called Family Wellness on Thursday morning (8/6). Family Wellness is a facility with a co-parenting concept provided by the faculty for the FISIPOL UGM academic community who have children before school age (kindergarten).

“The concept is that we want to try to build a work environment that does not separate the working place from the concept of child care. This is how we want to bring our sons and daughters closer to school,” said Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences of UGM, Wawan Mas’udi, in his speech.

The representative of the Head of Health Promoting University (HPU) of UGM, Supriati, expressed her hope that Family Wellness can improve the performance and productivity of the Academic Community of UGM. Because apart from not having to worry about children while working or studying, the community members will also be more focused in carrying out their duties.

“The FISIPOL community can stay happy, while working, they can interact with their children who are not yet in school. This will provide a reciprocal relationship because with happiness, work productivity will also increase,” she said.

Meanwhile, the Rector of UGM, Ova Emilia, who was also present at the launching event, said that Family Wellness is a unit that does not only think about today, but also about future generations. This was stated because as an educational institution, UGM is expected to not only educate the generation aged 18 years and over, but also ‘menguri-uri’ young children so that the development of character building for them can be well maintained.

Furthermore, the Rector of UGM asked for help and support from the FISIPOL team to roll out the Family Wellness concept to the university level. According to him, Family Wellness is an extraordinary breakthrough for lecturers or employees and other members of the community who are still in their reproductive years and experiencing problems related to child care.

“We from the university will help and let’s try together to make this happen, maybe escalate into clusters in several places and we talk about it because this is a good thing, and let’s spread this good practice together to other places,” she said.

After speeches from various parties, it was followed by a procession of cutting the cone and cutting the ribbon which symbolically marked the inauguration of the Launching of Family Wellness. The event ended with a tour of the Family Wellness building and seeing the facilities and infrastructure in it. In general, this facility is a contribution from the faculty to support and support the welfare of the academic community og UGM and their families in carrying out their duties on campus.
