Yogyakarta, August 20, 2026—The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (Fisipol) at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held a “Graduation Send-off Ceremony for Bachelor’s Degree Students (Period IV, Academic Year 2025/2026).” Taking place on Thursday (August 20) at the West Concourse of Fisipol UGM, the event served as the culmination of celebrations and a historic moment for students who have officially completed their studies at the faculty.
In this graduation period, Fisipol UGM proudly sent off 194 graduates who are now ready to step into the professional world or pursue higher education. The top graduate for this period was Elvira Chandra Dewi Ari Nanda from the Department of Communication Science; the Department of Communication Science also recorded the highest number of graduates, totaling 51. This was followed by the Department of International Relations with 42 graduates. Next were the Department of Politics and Government (32 graduates), the Department of Social Development and Welfare (29 graduates), the Department of Public Policy and Management (25 graduates), and finally, the Department of Sociology (15 graduates).
Opening the event with a blend of emotion and pride, the Dean of Fisipol UGM, Dr. Wawan Mas’udi, delivered remarks intended to express appreciation to the graduates and offer them a final reminder. He reflected on the long journey, the ups and downs, and the academic and non-academic dynamics the students had experienced since the very first day they became students at Fisipol UGM. “Pursuing a bachelor’s degree is a long and challenging journey. You were overjoyed when you first gathered here as freshmen, and you have since overcome many struggles. Now, you all hold your degrees. This is not the end of the journey, but rather the beginning of it all,” stated Wawan.
The Dean’s message also served as a reminder that the title of graduate brings with it new responsibilities within society. Ultimately, this send-off ceremony is intended to be more than just a formal conclusion to university life; it is meant to be a true gateway for graduates to embark on their real-world journeys. These new graduates are expected to adapt, innovate, and make a positive impact on their communities and the nation, all while steadfastly upholding the values of scholarship and social responsibility.
