Fisipol UGM Starting to Test New Normal Protocols at Campus

Yogyakarta, June 15th 2020 – Gadjah Mada University’s (UGM) Faculty of Social and Political Science (Fisipol) has implemented the remote learning protocol for three months because of the current Covid-19 pandemic. Right now, Fisipol UGM is trying to do a New Normal simulation in Fisipol’s Bulaksumur campus and Fisipol’s Unit II Sekip Campus with strict health protocols.

New normal implementation in Fisipol includes three phases, which are the simulation phase (15 to 28 June 2020), the transition phase (29 to 30 August 2020), and new normal phase (starting from August 31st 2020). In the simulation phase that will be conducted in the next two weeks, several service units in the faculty will operate again. Some of them are the Academic and Students Affairs, Finance, General Equipment, Human Resources, Information Technology, GEO, UP3M, Media, Library and Digilib, SKKK, and Parking.

During the simulation phase, the service units will be opened according to health regulations. This means that a maximum of 25% of the employee will Work from Office and people with high risk will stay at home. During the transition phase, more units will be opened with 50% of the employee working from office and the rest working from home. Finally, on the new normal phase all unit can be opened with all the employees coming to work in the office.

Besides that, Fisipol’s new normal will also be implemented alongside five new regulations that includes topics about working protocol, health protocol, information system, infrastructure, and institution standard. One of the health protocol that will be enforced is by making sure that those who go into the Fisipol area is healthy, meaning not showing signs of cough, runny nose, fever, and shortness of breath. If attendees are sick or had a history of contact with Covid-19 infected individuals, staffs have to report to their boss or call the Fisipol UGM Health Protocol Team. Fisipol’s academic civitas are also encouraged to bring their personal equipments, use face mask or face shield while in campus, and to maintain physical distancing with co-workers by making it a habit not to shake hands.Fisipol also developed a FISIPOL Care+ system which is an extension of the Wellness Center System.

The development of this information system will be used to gather necessary data in order to help to monitor the new normal implementation in the Fisipol UGM area. In the future, this information system will be developed into a monitoring platform that will be shared with professors and education staff scheduled to conduct WfH during the simulation, transition, or new normal phase. The Wellness Center system will categorize and summarize information which will be included in the system, such as; health condition (temperature, cough, dizziness, stress), traveling history, interaction history (in the house, the office, or in other places).

Through the implementation of the three phases to the new normal, it is hoped that Fisipol UGM will be able to create a working environment that is healthy and free from Covid-19 so it supports productivity in the middle of the pandemic. During the simulation phase, all academic civitas of Fisipol UGM is encouraged to obey the health protocol enforced by the government and the University of Gadjah Mada
