For Sustainable Quality, The Social Development and Welfare Study Program (PSdK) at FISIPOL UGM Undergoes LAMSPAK Assessment

Yogyakarta, April 20, 2026—The Independent Accreditation Institute for Social, Political, and Communication Studies (LAMSPAK) conducted a field accreditation assessment of the Master’s Program in Social Development and Welfare (PSdK) at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL UGM).

This assessment serves as the main platform for strategic discussions regarding improving the quality assurance of higher education in the PSdK master’s program. The assessment process not only focused on administrative verification but also deeply explored the institution’s commitment to building a continuous quality assurance cycle.

In his opening remarks at the assessment, the Dean of FISIPOL UGM, Dr. Wawan Mas’udi, emphasized that the accreditation process is interpreted as an institutional responsibility for continuous improvement, not simply the acquisition of an administrative certificate.

“Because we believe that the accreditation process is not merely a process for obtaining a certificate, but also part of the institution’s responsibility to carry out continuous improvement,” he said. “This is our responsibility not only to LAMSPAK, not only to the Minister of Education and Science, but more importantly, our responsibility to students and the community.”

The two assigned assessors, Prof. Dr. Dra. R. Nunung Nurwati, MS., from Padjadjaran University and Dr. Yunindyawati, S.Sos., M.Si., from Sriwijaya University, led a series of evaluative dialogues. Nurwati emphasized that the presence of the assessor team aimed to foster constructive discussions to map the potential for study program development. “Our purpose in being assigned here is not to find fault; we are not here to dig up shortcomings, but we are here to discuss ‘what should this be like?'” she stated before the faculty leadership and the accreditation team.

Mas’udi added that the direction of research and community service at PSdK is expected to extend beyond the classroom and also produce a tangible impact in solving social problems. “The main goal is for what we do on campus to have an impact on issues related to social welfare, which I think is very important,” he concluded.

The LAMSPAK accreditation field assessment is a significant step towards achieving sustainable quality in higher education at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) UGM. The collaborative effort between faculty, students, and assessors underscores the importance of a shared commitment to educational excellence and social responsibility.
