Yogyakarta, July 29th 2022─Dr. Arie Sudjito, S.Sos., M.Si. from the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, UGM, was elected as the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Community Service and Alumni of Universitas Gadjah Mada for the 2022-2027 term of service. The inauguration of the Vice Chancellor was carried out in the Senate Hall of UGM Central Building by the Rector of the Gadjah Mada University, Prof. dr. Ova Emilia, M.Med., Ed., Sp.OG(K), Ph.D. on Friday (29/7).
Dr. Arie Sudjito is a Lecturer in the Department of Sociology of FISIPOL who teaches undergraduate (S1) and masters (S2) students. Some of the courses taught are Social Movements, 3rd World Poverty Problems, and Sociology of Agriculture and Villages for the Bachelor program and the Third World Industrialization course for the Masters program.
Besides being active as an academic, Dr. Arie Sudjito is also active as a political observer with research interests in Demilitarization and Decentralization, Indonesian Local Political Dynamics, Village Development and Strengthening Local Economy, and Development of Good Governance in the Context of Village Autonomy.
In 2019, Dr. Arie Sudjito successfully launched his 8th book entitled “A Cup of Politics”. The book consists of 40 articles that discuss the political situation throughout 2019. The latest news from Dr. Arie Sudjito is he also participated in the publication of the book chapter entitled “Vulnerability, Social Solidarity and Resilient Society” from the book “New Normal – Socio-Economic and Political Changes Due to COVID-19” in 2020 published by Gadjah Mada University Press.
In addition to inaugurating the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Community Service and Alumni, four Vice Rectors were also inaugurated, namely:
- Vice-Rector for Education and Teaching: Prof. Dr. Wening Udasmoro, S.S., M.Hum., DEA (Faculty of Cultural Sciences);
- Vice-Rector for Research, Business Development, and Cooperation: Ignatius Susatyo Wijoyo, M.M. (UGM non-lecturer);
- Vice-Rector for Human Resources and Finance: Prof. Supriyadi, M.Sc., Ph.D., CMA., CA., Ak. (Faculty of Economics and Business); and
- Vice-Rector for Planning, Assets, and Information Systems: Arief Setiawan Budi Nugroho, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D. (Faculty of Engineering).
