Yogyakarta, April 11, 2026─The Wellness Center of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), has successfully carried out a community service program entitled “Health Check with the Wellness Center of HPU FISIPOL UGM in Celebration of Gempur’s 27th Anniversary.” This program was held on Saturday (11/4) in Tegal Barep, Bulak Salak RT 03 RW 46, Wukirsari, Cangkringan, Sleman Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta.

Not only came as participants in the health check-up, local residents, alongside village officials and the youth organization (karang taruna), worked hand in hand to ensure the success of this event. Everyone, from children and pregnant women to the elderly, welcomed the activity enthusiastically, as demonstrated by their punctual arrival at the location and orderly participation in the series of events. This event brought in expert health professionals directly from the Universitas Gadjah Mada Academic Hospital (RSA UGM), as well as service officers from the Wellness Center HPU FISIPOL UGM, to conduct the examinations.

The session began with blood pressure checks, followed by height and weight measurements, as well as blood sugar, uric acid, and cholesterol level tests. It concluded with a consultation session with the attending doctors. The doctors also provided education on healthy lifestyles, ranging from the importance of balanced nutrition to recommendations for regular exercise as an effort to prevent degenerative diseases. Several residents were also advised to undergo further examinations at the nearest hospital or community health center (Puskesmas) if symptoms requiring further medical attention were detected.

This aligns with the message delivered by a representative of the Health Promoting University (HPU) FISIPOL UGM, Kemas Chairudin, S.I.Kom. In his remarks, he emphasized the importance of maintaining health and undertaking preventive measures through routine check-ups. “Hopefully, programs like this are not just a one-time occurrence. Instead, they should be continuous, perhaps once a year, or twice a year. The important thing is that it does not stop here,” said Rudy.
Ultimately, it is hoped that this community service program can increase public awareness to consistently prioritize their own health through proactive measures, enabling them to lead a higher quality of life.
