Yogyakarta, August 28, 2026 — The Institute of International Studies (IIS) at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), in collaboration with Seoul Women’s University, UN Women, and KOICA, is holding the International Conference on the Gender-Responsive Humanitarian, Development, and Peace (HDP) Nexus today, Friday (August 28). The event is taking place in a hybrid format, hosted at the 4th-floor Auditorium of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (Fisipol) UGM and broadcast online via the Fisipol UGM YouTube channel. The conference centers on the theme: “Women’s Leadership for Inclusive Resilience: Leaving No One Behind for Sustainable Peace and Crisis Response.”
The day’s proceedings officially opened with a session comprising the Opening and Morning Seminar, held from 09:00 to 12:00 WIB. This morning discussion focused on the conceptual approach to a gender-responsive Humanitarian, Development, and Peace (HDP) Nexus, featuring experts and policymakers such as Dr. Lilik Kurniawan (Deputy for Coordination of Regional Development Equity and Disaster Management at the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs/Kemenko PMK), Prof. Ir. Dwikorita Karnawati (Professor at UGM), and Yenny Wahid (Director of the Wahid Foundation).
Following the morning seminar and a lunch break, the program continues with five parallel thematic panel sessions from 13:15 to 15:00 WIB. These panels bring together government representatives, civil society members, and academics from Indonesia and South Korea to discuss specific issues ranging from gender data collection and the prevention of extremism to community-based resilience. The conference is scheduled to conclude with a plenary discussion at 15:00 WIB.
