Joint Secretariat of FISIPOL UGM Students, a Learning Space for All

Yogyakarta, April 14, 2026—The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FISIPOL UGM), provides a Joint Secretariat as an inclusive learning space for the entire academic community.

Amidst busy lecture schedules and organizational commitments, FISIPOL UGM students now have a dedicated space to foster collaboration and innovation. The Joint Secretariat, or Sekber, serves not only as a gathering place for student organizations but also as an inclusive learning space for the entire academic community.

The Joint Secretariat was created as a solution to space limitations. The Dean of FISIPOL UGM, Dr. Wawan Mas’udi, explained that it was difficult for the faculty to provide a dedicated space for each of the growing number of student forums. This concept was chosen to create a more inclusive and collaborative environment by eliminating territorial barriers between departmental student associations (HMD) and faculty student activity units (UKMF). With its open design, the Joint Student Secretariat is now accessible to all students across disciplines, not only for organizational activities but also for studying and working on joint projects. The design of this space also involved direct collaboration with students.

With the Joint Student Secretariat, FISIPOL UGM has succeeded in creating a learning ecosystem that is not only functional but also welcoming and accessible to all.

The Joint Student Secretariat is equipped with modern facilities, including study areas, meeting rooms, and collaborative workspaces, all designed to facilitate interaction and knowledge sharing among students. This initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in promoting equal access to quality education and encouraging community engagement.

The Joint Student Secretariat is expected to become a meeting place for diverse ideas, perspectives, and communities to enhance the student educational experience. By providing a platform for diverse voices and ideas, FISIPOL UGM is committed to fostering a vibrant academic community.

In conclusion, the Joint Student Secretariat of FISIPOL UGM stands as a testament to the university’s dedication to fostering an inclusive and collaborative learning environment. As students continue on their academic journey, this space will undoubtedly play a vital role in supporting their growth and development.
