Master’s Program in Public Management and Policy of FISIPOL UGM Undergoes LAMSPAK Assessment

Yogyakarta July 2, 2026—The Master’s Program in Public Management and Policy (MKP) of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), underwent an Accreditation Field Assessment process by the Independent Accreditation Agency for Social, Political, Administration, and Communication Sciences (LAMSPAK). This assessment activity was held entirely offline at the 4th Floor Auditorium and the MKP meeting room of FISIPOL UGM on Thursday (July 2). This comprehensive field assessment process was led by the LAMSPAK assessor team, namely Prof. Dr. Teguh Kurniawan, S.Sos., M.Si. from Universitas Indonesia and Dr. Dra. Sinta Ningrum, M.T. from Universitas Padjadjaran.The Dean of FISIPOL UGM, Dr. Wawan Mas’udi, explained that the implementation of this accreditation is one of the faculty’s strategic efforts to encourage its study programs to gain international recognition. On this occasion, Wawan personally welcomed the assessor team while introducing the profile of the MKP Department as the department that houses the largest number of study programs at FISIPOL UGM.

To clarify the academic direction of the assessed study program, Wawan also emphasized the distinct scientific characteristics possessed by the Master’s Program of the Department of Public Management and Policy.

“If the Master of Public Administration has a multidisciplinary character and tends to facilitate professionals, the Master of Public Management and Policy (MMKP) is indeed directed more towards public policy as science,” Wawan stated.

Regarding the assessment method, which is required to be conducted face-to-face or offline, Prof. Teguh revealed that this step is part of the standards set by the agency.

“Why this field assessment must be offline, one of the reasons is because LAMSPAK’s target is also to be internationally recognized,” he said.

Overall, the implementation of this field assessment serves as a form of FISIPOL UGM’s commitment to maintaining its institutional quality assurance system. Through this evaluation by LAMSPAK, FISIPOL UGM aims to continuously maintain and improve the quality of education, strengthen institutional governance, and ensure the delivery of sustainable academic services, particularly for the Master’s Program in Public Management and Policy.
