Prima Miftahul Jannati, a PSdK Student Got the National Third Place in Tilawah Quran RRI Week 2023

Yogyakarta, April 19th 2023─Prima Miftahul Jannati or more commonly known as Prima is UGM’s Social Development and Welfare (PSdK) student who managed to win the national third place in Tilawah Putri in the 53rd PTQ RRI (Tilawah Quran Week Indonesia Republic Radio) held at Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi. PTQ RRI is a yearly championship held by  Indonesia Republic Radio which includes tilawah, tahfizh, tausiyah, and tartil.

Prima is one of two UGM representatives chosen by MTQ electives and Ditmawa UGM to join the competition. Prima said that in order to join the national PTQ RRI, the participant has to be the winner in the regional sector first.

“The regional championship was held by RRI Yogyakarta, and because Prima won first place, she was able to go to the national league in Kendari,” she explained. PTQ RRI regional league was held on 23rd March 2023.

The regional winner of the tilawah competition can go straight to the national league, unlike the winner of tahfizh, tausiyah, and tartil that still has to compete in another level.

“Because the amount of RRI in every region is different, sometimes there are more than 2 representatives from the same region,” Prima said.

Prima has known tilawah ever since she was little and has won many competitions ever since. When she became a university student in PSdK UGM, Prima joined 31 championships meant for university students or for the public. Prima has also won an international third place in the International Quranic Competition 2021 held by UNESA.

“Most of the championships held for university students are held online, be it in the regional scheme or internationally,” Prima said.

Prima added that she was grateful that she was able to join PTQ RRI for the first time and got the national third place. Not only did she make her parents, teachers, lecturers, and the university proud, but she was also able to meet other participants.

“I was able to meet other people and evaluate their skills. That helps me in my self-evaluation process for future championships,” Prima said.
