Yogyakarta, April 15, 2026—FISIPOL UGM trained 25 educational staff in public relations and protocol on Wednesday (April 15) in the Dean’s Meeting Room. This training was held to improve professionalism in handling events with important guests.
This training provided educational staff with practical knowledge regarding ceremonial procedures, venue layout, respect, and dress code for official events in accordance with government standards. This activity was held as a strategic step to strengthen FISIPOL UGM’s image as a professional, responsive, and classy institution.

In this training session, communication strategy consultant Winda Mizwar Pratiwi, S.E., M.I.Kom., in her presentation titled “The Strategic Role of Public Relations in Higher Education,” conveyed the importance of public relations in higher education. “The education sector experienced the greatest decline in public trust during the crisis because society demanded greater ethics and transparency,” he said.

The UGM Protocol Team also contributed to the training by discussing the basics of protocol. They highlighted the essential skills required in a higher education environment, reinforcing the idea that effective protocol management is crucial to maintaining a positive institutional image.
The training also included practical exercises, allowing participants to engage in role-playing scenarios that simulate real-world situations. This hands-on approach was designed to reinforce the theoretical knowledge shared during the sessions, ensuring that staff can apply what they have learned effectively.
The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) UGM hopes this training will foster better coordination between units within the faculty when organizing activities involving important guests. The goal is to create a more synergistic approach to event management, ensuring that all educational staff share a clear understanding of protocols and standards.
As part of its commitment to continuous improvement, the Faculty plans to hold similar training sessions in the future, focusing on various aspects of public relations and protocol. This ongoing capacity building is crucial for adapting to the evolving demands of the education sector and maintaining a high level of professionalism.
The public relations and protocol training at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) UGM represents a significant step towards improving the quality of education and professional standards within the institution. By investing in staff development, FISIPOL UGM not only enhances internal capabilities but also contributes to the broader goal of achieving quality education and building a culture of excellence.
