Yogyakarta, May 4, 2026—As a commitment to raising awareness of the physical and mental health of its academic community, the Department of Social Development and Welfare (PSdK) of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) of Universitas Gadjah Mada University launched the PSdK Well-being Center (WBC) program on Monday (May 4) at the FISIPOL Auditorium. Designed for the entire PSdK Department community, including students, lecturers, educational staff, and related parties such as the Student Leadership Team (Kapstra), Human Resources Development (PSDM), and Advocacy, the PSdK Well-being Center (WBC) program provides a fast, safe, and contextual service center for mental, emotional, social, and physical well-being.
The high academic pressure and non-academic issues experienced by students are one of the reasons why this program is urgent. The department recognizes the importance of early detection and prevention before conditions, both physical and mental, worsen. This awareness, expressed by Bahruddin, S.Sos., M.Sc., Ph.D., the department head, encouraged the department to create a supportive, inclusive, and non-stigmatizing campus culture through the WBC.

The launch and introduction event also presented the WBC’s services, which include psychological aspects, mindfulness, and physical activity, as well as access mechanisms, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), a hotline, and service flow.
The WBC is ready to complement mental health services at FISIPOL and UGM, upholding the principles of confidentiality, inclusivity, and responsiveness. The WBC’s presence is expected to prevent and minimize mental health risks, provide early support, and address mental health crises, to foster an empathetic, inclusive, and healthy campus culture for the academic process.
