Supporting Career and Family Balance, Fisipol UGM Presents “Family Wellness” Daycare Facility

Yogyakarta, June 27, 2026─In order to meet the need for childcare support for the academic community, the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (Fisipol) of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) established and manages the Family Wellness facility, an integrated daycare service located within the campus environment, precisely on the 1st Floor of the BH Building, FISIPOL UGM.

This facility serves as a concrete solution for lecturers and educational staff who have children. Through Family Wellness, Fisipol UGM is taking tangible steps to institutionalize support for work and personal life balance.

“The Family Wellness service is not only intended for the FISIPOL academic community, but it is open to the entire academic community of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM),” stated a representative of Family Wellness.

As a daycare facility, Family Wellness is designed as an educational, safe, and stimulating space for growth and development. The implemented program is based on the philosophy of belonging, where children are made to feel comfortable and accepted. The next is being, ensuring that children do not just play but also enjoy the learning process. The last is becoming, which teaches children to continuously develop and become independent. The facilities offered range from a spacious semi-open playroom, a clean and comfortable sleeping room, a spacious bathroom area equipped with warm water, a lactation area, and many more.

Not stopping at physical facilities, there are supporting services such as the provision of free healthy meals every day, routine health and dental check-ups by doctors, child development consultation services with psychologists, highly educated educators, and others. The process to register children for this service is also very straightforward and easily accessible.

The proactive step taken by Fisipol UGM through the provision of this daycare is expected to serve as a role model for family-friendly policies at other universities in Indonesia. Ultimately, an excellent campus is measured not only by its academic achievements but also by the extent to which the institution is able to create a work ecosystem that humanizes every individual within it.
