KAPSTRA FISIPOL UGM Discusses the Future of the Pre-Employment Card Program Amid Government Transition in KAPSTRA Dialogue #4

The Pre-Employment Card (Kartu Prakerja) Program, initiated by President Joko Widodo as a response to the surge in unemployment during the pandemic, now faces uncertainty at the beginning of 2025. According to data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS), open unemployment remains high, reaching 7.28 million people in early 2025, with 26,455 cases of layoffs recorded.

Since its launch in 2020 until 2024, the program has supported 18.9 million beneficiaries, including 1.4 million workers in 2024 alone. The program provides digital-based training and financial incentives amounting to IDR 4,200,000 per participant, aiming to enhance skills and productivity among job seekers. read more

FISIPOL UGM Hosts Media Gathering with National and Local Media

Yogyakarta, 25 July 2025 — To strengthen ties between academia and the media, the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) at Universitas Gadjah Mada hosted its first Media Gathering titled “Sapa FISIPOL (Silaturahmi dan Pemberitaan Aktual FISIPOL)” on Friday (25/7). This event served as a platform for dialogue and collaboration between the faculty and media outlets, recognizing the media as strategic partners in addressing societal issues.

At this inaugural gathering, FISIPOL introduced two of its active research centers that focus on digital and social issues in Indonesia: the Center for Digital Society (CfDS) and the Center for Capacity Development and Cooperation (PPKK). read more

Master’s Program in International Relations at FISIPOL UGM Undergoes Accreditation Assessment by LAMSPAK

The Master’s Program in International Relations, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL), Universitas Gadjah Mada, underwent an on-site accreditation assessment conducted by the Independent Accreditation Board for Social, Political, Administrative, and Communication Sciences (LAMSPAK) on Friday, July 25. The event took place at the Faculty Senate Meeting Room of FISIPOL UGM as part of the higher education quality evaluation process.

The assessment team from LAMSPAK consisted of two distinguished experts, Dr. Suyani Indriastuti and Dr. Dudy Heriyadi, who carried out a comprehensive evaluation of various aspects of the Master’s Program in International Relations. Their assessment covered curriculum design, teaching and learning processes, program governance, as well as the program’s outputs and broader impacts on both society and the academic community. read more

UGM Faculty of Social and Political Sciences’ Master of Public Administration (MAP) Program Conducts Field Research on Labuan Bajo Tourism

Labuan Bajo, July 26, 2025—In a significant initiative aimed at improving sustainable tourism, the Master of Public Administration (MAP) program at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) conducted field research in Labuan Bajo, a super-priority tourism destination in Indonesia. The research took place from July 21 to 25, 2025, and was a collaborative effort with the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Widya Mandira Catholic University, Kupang. This collaboration was funded through the BIMA scheme of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. read more

Yogyakarta, 25 Juli 2025—To strengthen its relationship with media and academic networks, the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada, held a Media Gathering program, “Sapa FISIPOL (Silaturahmi dan Pemberitaan Aktual FISIPOL),” on Friday (25/7). This event is a forum for discussion and collaboration with the mass media as the faculty’s strategic partners in contributing to social issues.

In this first meeting, Fisipol introduced two research centers that actively research various digital and social phenomena in society: the UGM Center for Digital Society (CfDS) and the Center for Capacity Development and Cooperation (PPKK). Syaifa Tania, Executive Secretary of CfDS, explained several CfDS commitments to realize a healthy and safe digital ecosystem through digital society education. “This year we have three research focuses, such as digital democracy and new governance, human-centered AI, and environmentally friendly and sustainable technology,” she said. read more

FISIPOL UGM Graduates 54 Master’s Students

Yogyakarta, July 23, 2025 — The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) graduated 54 students from its Master’s Program during the Postgraduate Commencement Ceremony for the fourth period of the 2024/2025 academic year, held on Wednesday (23/7).

This cohort consisted of 31 female and 23 male graduates, representing seven master’s programs: 15 from the Master of Communication Science, 14 from the Master of International Relations, 9 from the Master of Public Administration, 8 from the Master of Social Development and Welfare, 5 from the Master of Sociology, 2 from the Master of Public Policy and Management, and 1 from the Master of Politics and Government. read more

Encouraging Knowledge-Based Elections, FISIPOL UGM Holds Strategic Discussion with Bawaslu and KPU DIY

Yogyakarta, July 22, 2025 — The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at Universitas Gadjah Mada (FISIPOL UGM) welcomed an audience visit from the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) and the General Election Commission (KPU) of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY). The meeting was attended by the Chair of Bawaslu DIY, Drs. Mohammad Najib, M.Si., along with representatives from KPU DIY.

The audience served as a strategic discussion forum to address key public issues related to Indonesia’s electoral system. Prominent topics raised during the meeting included the arrangement of electoral districts, transparency in campaign financing, as well as the direction of future electoral regulations and policies. read more
