Yogyakarta, May 7, 2026—The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) UGM demonstrated its contribution to strengthening community capacity to face disaster risks by participating in the National Disaster Exhibition, part of the 9th Annual Scientific Meeting (PIT) on Disaster. Organized by the Indonesian Association of Disaster Experts (IABI) on May 6–7, 2026, at the Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY), the event provided a collaborative space for academics, practitioners, government officials, and the public to showcase innovations, good practices, and tangible contributions to disaster risk reduction in Indonesia.

Depok, May 6, 2026─The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FISIPOL UGM), through the Department of Management and Public Policy (MPP), attended a strategic international collaboration agenda held at Building M, Faculty of Administrative Sciences, Universitas Indonesia (FIA UI), Depok Campus, on Wednesday (May 6).
This event marked a significant milestone in strengthening cooperation between the Center for the Study of Governance and Administrative Reform, Universitas Indonesia (CSGAR UI), Crawford School of Public Policy, The Australian National University (ANU), and FISIPOL UGM through MPP as the implementing unit.
Yogyakarta, May 4, 2026—As a commitment to raising awareness of the physical and mental health of its academic community, the Department of Social Development and Welfare (PSdK) of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) of Universitas Gadjah Mada University launched the PSdK Well-being Center (WBC) program on Monday (May 4) at the FISIPOL Auditorium. Designed for the entire PSdK Department community, including students, lecturers, educational staff, and related parties such as the Student Leadership Team (Kapstra), Human Resources Development (PSDM), and Advocacy, the PSdK Well-being Center (WBC) program provides a fast, safe, and contextual service center for mental, emotional, social, and physical well-being.
Yogyakarta, May 4, 2026— Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada, in collaboration with the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs responded to mental health issues in Gunung Kidul.
Gunung Kidul has one of the highest suicide rates in Indonesia, exacerbated by the cultural myth of “pulung gantung.” The Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs is taking the mental health crisis in Gunung Kidul seriously, recognizing the need for a comprehensive approach to addressing this issue. Katiman, Assistant Deputy for Research, Technology, and Industrial Partnerships at the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs, emphasized the importance of cross-sectoral and interdisciplinary collaboration on this issue. “We ask for your assistance in mapping the issues in Gunung Kidul. What additional factors need to be considered? From psychology, medicine, agriculture, geography, and others. This will form the basis for our future,” he said.
Yogyakarta, April 30, 2026 – In an effort to sustainably maintain educational quality, the Undergraduate Program in Politics and Government (DPP), Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) conducted an offline field assessment phase. This comprehensive evaluation, initiated by the Independent Accreditation Agency for Social, Political, Administration, and Communication Sciences (LAMSPAK), was held centrally in the Dean’s Meeting Room of FISIPOL UGM on Thursday (30/4).
Yogyakarta, April 30, 2026─The Undergraduate Program in Political Science and Government conducted a LAMSPAK Accreditation Field Assessment on Thursday (April 30). This series of activities took place in the Dean’s Meeting Room of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) UGM.
The assessment was attended by the dean’s office, department and study program heads, lecturers, educational staff, quality assurance units, student representatives, alumni, and external users. The assessors tasked with reviewing the field assessment were Dr. Dewi Erowati, S.Sos., M.Si. from Universitas Diponegoro and Prof. Dr.phil. Aditya Perdana, S.IP., M.Si. from the Universitas Indonesia.
Yogyakarta, April 29, 2026─The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) inaugurated the Senate Chair and Secretary for the 2026-2031 period on Wednesday (May 7) in the Dean’s Meeting Room. The two names selected were Prof. Dr. Phil. Hermin Indah Wahyuni, S.IP., M.Si., as Professor Chair of the Faculty Senate for the 2026-2031 period, and Milda Longgeita Br. Pinem, S.Sos., M.A., Ph.D., as Secretary of the Faculty Senate. This decision was made at a previously held FISIPOL UGM Senate Meeting.
Yogyakarta, April 28, 2026—The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FISIPOL UGM), concluded its nearly month-long Visiting Scholar series with Dr. Priyambudi Sulistiyanto on Monday (April 21).
Dr. Priyambudi Sulistiyanto is known for his expertise in Indonesian political studies and comparative politics in the Southeast Asian region, with over three decades of field research experience. His presence at FISIPOL UGM is expected to strengthen critical research methodologies, inspire young researchers to get directly involved in the field, and open up a richer discourse space through reflections on the intellectual heritage of regional thinkers.

Yogyakarta, April 27, 2026—The Department of Social Development and Welfare at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada, has successfully achieved UNGGUL (excellent) accreditation for its Master’s Program. This accreditation is conducted by the Independent Accreditation Institute for Social, Political, Administrative, and Communication Sciences (LAMSPAK), which uses assessment criteria aligned with several quality benchmarks for study program accreditation eligibility.
