Yogyakarta, July 8, 2025—The Master’s Program in Social Development and Welfare (PSDK) of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) UGM successfully held the 5th Graduate Symposium on Social Development and Welfare 2025 from July 7 to 8, 2025. With the theme “Quo Vadis Contemporary Development,” the event provided a platform for cross-perspective academic discussions to address the challenges and direction of sustainable development in Indonesia.

The first day of the symposium opened with a keynote speaker session titled “Frugal Innovation: A New Strategy for CSR Program Planning,” featuring Adi Rahmadi (Officer II CSR at PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk.) and moderated by Galih Prabaningrum, S.Sos., M.A. (PSdK Lecturer). The discussion highlighted the concept of Frugal Innovation as an efficient approach to designing CSR programs based on optimizing company resources. Participants were invited to understand the definition of Frugal Innovation, its implementation, the benefits it offers companies and communities, and its practical applications at Pertamina Geothermal. The Master’s Program in Social Development and Welfare (PSdK) of FISIPOL UGM successfully held the PSdK Master’s Symposium over two days, July 7–8, 2025. Taking place at the BA Building and FISIPOL Auditorium, the event became a space for the exchange of strategic ideas involving students, lecturers, practitioners, and alumni.

The symposium opened on Monday (7/7) with a seminar entitled “Frugal Innovation & CSR” delivered by PSdK alumnus Adi Rahmadi. Held in BA 501, this session highlighted the role of low-cost innovation and corporate social responsibility in addressing pressing development issues. read more

Seoul, June 26, 2025 — As the urgency of the climate crisis continues to intensify, the global community faces a growing obstacle: the spread of misinformation and disinformation that hampers public understanding and concrete climate action. Magelang, June 24, 2025 — Students of the Magister Public Administration Affirmation Program (MAP) at Universitas Gadjah Mada undertook a field trip to Magelang Regency as part of a learning process connecting theory with practical public policy implementation. The activity, held from June 23–24, involved scholarship recipients from various local government institutions across Indonesia and focused on strengthening Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) as pillars of the local economy and job creation. read more

Yogyakarta, July 2025 — Writing academic journal articles is not only a requirement for aspiring lecturers or researchers but also a crucial foundation for developing critical thinking skills and constructing systematic arguments. This was emphasized by Indri Dwi Apriliyanti, a lecturer at the Department of Management and Public Policy (MKP) FISIPOL UGM, during a knowledge-sharing session on the importance of academic writing skills for students across disciplines.

In her presentation, Dr. Indri highlighted that many students still question the relevance of journal writing, especially if they do not plan to pursue an academic career. However, she argued that academic writing skills provide long-term benefits across professions. “Writing trains us to think systematically, build data-driven arguments, and communicate ideas clearly to an audience,” she explained. read more

The field study is an integral part of the MAP FISIPOL UGM Karyasiswa program, specifically the Bappenas Affirmation program. In addition to exploring course material in greater depth, this activity aims to enhance understanding, foster direct experience, and promote collaboration with various stakeholders to promote people-centered economic development, as committed to Sustainable Development Goals 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

Yogyakarta, May 23th 2025─The Socio-Economic Empowerment Program for Village Communities Around Special Purpose Forest Areas (KHDTK) through a circular economy approach was officially closed in a ceremony at Pitu Village Hall, Getas District, Ngawi Regency, on Friday (23/5). The program, which ran from January to May 2025, is the result of collaboration between Pertamina Foundation, FISIPOL UGM, and Universitas Gadjah Mada.

During the five months of implementation, this program has provided skills training, local business assistance, household waste management into value-added products, and the formation of community business groups based on local potential and sustainability principles. read more

Blora, May 23, 2025—UGM’s Faculty of Social and Political Science (Fisipol) has successfully organized a closing  ceremonial event for the socio–economic empowerment program for village communities around forest areas with special-purpose (KHDTK). It is done through the lens of circular economy at the second location, Mendenrenjo Village, Blora Regency on Friday (23/5). This event also marks the official end of the program that has been ongoing for five months since January 2025. 

Arie Sujito, as Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Community Service, and Alumni of UGM, attended the ceremony and mentioned that,”The activities carried out all this time are aimed at increasing the quality of life of communities together. It is hoped that this cooperation between villages and groups is important in reducing the rate of poverty by empowering communities.” read more
