TVR Days Goes to UGM: Campus Talent Network to Attract Young People to the News Industry

Yogyakarta, February 29th 2024─TVR Indonesia Parliament held a campus talent selection at the Department of Communication Sciences (DIKOM) Fisipol UGM on Thursday (29/2). This program is a form of parliamentary media collaboration with Gadjah Mada University. From 29 February-1 March 2024, TVR Parliament will recruit five young campus talents who will have the opportunity to become news anchors for TVR Parliament.

“The cooperation between Fisipol UGM and parliament has been around for a long time. This is a very important event, and it started a few months ago when friends from TVR Parliament came to work with us. I think parliament needs to be socialized to the public. So far, if there is something good in parliament, it is difficult to report it. Faculty of Social and Political Sciences UGM Holds BNSP Certification with GeTI, Dozens of Participants Enthusiastically Join the Training

Yogyakarta, February 23rd 2024─In order to support the empowerment and competency development of the workforce, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences UGM together with Global Edukasi Talenta Incubator (GeTI) held “Certification and Industry Assistance for Young Entrepreneurs” on Friday (23/2). The program is a technical guidance from the training held by GeTI and has been attended by dozens of students and lecturers from various faculties at UGM.

“I would like to thank UGM for supporting this event. This is not just training and exams. Basically the process is like that, but the big goal is that we want to invite all of you to enter an era where the stages that become industry players are accelerating. Prof. Dr. Agus Heruanto Hadna, S.IP., M.Sc. Successfully Inaugurated as Professor of Social and Political Sciences UGM ​

Yogyakarta, February 22 2024—Prof. Dr. Agus Heruanto Hadna, S.IP., M.Sc. Remis was inaugurated as a Professor at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada on Wednesday (22/2). All professors, lecturers, rectors and faculties were also present at the inauguration procession which took place at the UGM Senate Hall. Through a speech entitled “Innovation on Inequality and Policy in Social Economics”, Prof. Agus explained his analysis of the development of the digital world and its influence on socio-economic welfare. read more

Six Fisipol Students Won Medals at the 36th PIMNAS in the Field of Humanities Research and Community Service

Yogyakarta, December 24th 2023─Six Fisipol students managed to contribute 4 medals in the 36th National Student Scientific Week (PIMNAS) which took place at Padjadjaran University, Bandung. The six students who are divided into three teams are Jatayu Bias Cakrawala (Communication Science 2021), Trixi Karinina Dewi Sindhutomo (Public Policy Management 2022), Fachrurizal Mahendra Sujono (Social Development and Welfare 2020), Fadil Putra Pratama (Sociology 2020), Nadadistya Fourysa Iksani Putri (Social Development and Welfare 2020), and Nayla Dhiyaa Izzati (Public Policy Management 2021). read more

Dean of Faculty of Social and Political Sciences UGM Wins Award for Outstanding UGM Personnel of the Year 2023 in Collaborative Research Category

Yogyakarta, November 27th 2023─Perseverance and commitment in building academic collaboration brought the Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Dr. Wawan Mas’udi, S.IP., MPA to receive an award in the Collaborative Research Category of the Soshum Cluster 2023. The appreciation was given at the Awarding Night for Outstanding UGM Personnel in 2023 on Wednesday (11/15).

The UGM Achievement Award Night is an annual event organized to give appreciation to alumni, lecturers, education staff, and students. Various categories for the four clusters, namely science and technology, social science, agrocomplex, and health are given to selected academicians who have produced their best work. This year, Dr. Wawan won the award with a research work entitled “Morality Policies and the Prospect for Inclusive Citizenship in Decentralized Indonesia: A Study of West Java”. The award is certainly a proud achievement as well as an encouragement to continue producing academic works in the social and political fields. read more

ICDR 2023: Australia-Indonesia Conference Held Again Emphasizing the Rights of Disabled Groups

Yogyakarta, November 22nd 2023—In the third year of the International Conference of Disability Rights (ICDR), the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences UGM was selected as the host. This annual conference is organized by the Australia-Indonesia Disability Research and Advocacy Network (AIDRAN) forum in collaboration with Fisipol UGM and the Australian Catholic University. Taking place over three days, namely 21-23 November 2023, experts, activists and academics gathered to discuss disability rights in a society that has not been fully accommodated. read more

Diskoma#10 Review the Definition of Truth in the Post-Truth Era

Yogyakarta, November 17th 2023─The massive development of media today is intertwined with media conglomerations where media owners have the power to create news framing and determine the direction of content distributed. As a result, the veracity of information is now at stake. As a series of events to welcome the 2023 Graduate Students Symposium on Communication Science (GSSC), the Diskusi Komunikasi Mahasiswa (Diskoma) held a webinar entitled “Seeing ‘Truth’ in the Post-Truth Era” on Friday (17/11) online via Zoom Meeting and YouTube Live – UGM Department of Communication Sciences. Research Day 2023: Research Collaboration Shows Academics’ Commitment to Responding to Current Issues

Yogyakarta, November 13th 2023—Research Days 2023 is being held again by the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences UGM. This year, the theme raised is closely related to the role of the academic world and science in the dynamics of society with the title “Committed to Science for a Better Society”. This event is open to all researchers and experts to contribute their thoughts as a form of contribution to current issues.

“For universities, research and dissemination are very important. Of course, the dissemination that we do is not only to show that we are active enough, but also to ensure our contribution to the various transformations that are taking place,” said the Dean of Faculty of Social and Political Sciences UGM, Wawan Mas’udi, S.IP., MPA, Ph.D. For the last two years, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences UGM has been committed to focusing on three main topics in its research, namely climate change, digital transformation, and the substance of democracy, which is society.
