Yogyakarta, June 4, 2026—The Election Organizers’ Honorary Council (DKPP), in collaboration with the Department of Politics and Government at Gadjah Mada University (DPP UGM), hosted a national seminar to discuss the integrity and ethics of election organizers.
The seminar emphasized that the strengthening of democracy can only be achieved through the integrity of election organizers. The DKPP’s empirical experiences were shared as key insights for building a stronger democratic framework in Indonesia. The discussion focused on how integrity in election management is crucial for public trust and the overall health of the democratic process.
Ari Dwipayana, the department head, emphasized the existence of an open space for collaboration to exchange knowledge in advancing democracy. “Through this collaboration, we hope to open up broader opportunities for collaboration. Starting with joint research on this index. We are also making more serious efforts to enhance institutional capacity, develop political education, and foster public ethics and reasoning. Thus, through this collaboration, we can exchange knowledge to the point where we can propose policy recommendations that will strengthen the quality of Indonesia’s democracy in the future,” he explained.

In addition, the event featured various speakers, including practitioners from the DKPP and KPU, as well as academics, who shared their perspectives on the ethical responsibilities of election organizers. They emphasized the need for transparency and accountability in the electoral process, which are essential for maintaining public trust in democratic institutions.
The seminar also brought together participants from various segments of society, ranging from civil society organizations and student forums to election administrators. This was done as a fundamental measure to ensure that every citizen can meaningfully participate in the democratic process.
The discussion also touched on the importance of integrating education on democratic values and the electoral process into the national curriculum. In this way, the seminar participants argued, future generations will be better prepared to engage in democratic practices and uphold the principles of integrity and ethics in governance.
In closing, the DKPP and the DPP UGM expressed their commitment to continuing this dialogue and fostering partnerships that will contribute to a more democratic and just society. This seminar serves as a reminder that the future of democracy in Indonesia depends heavily on the integrity of those overseeing the electoral process.
