UGM’s Doctoral Program in Public Administration Undergoes a LAMSPAK On-Site Accreditation Assessment for Educational Quality Assurance

Yogyakarta, 20 June 2026─The Doctoral Program in Public Administration (Ph.D., Department of Management and Public Policy) at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Gadjah Mada University (FISIPOL UGM), conducted a LAMSPAK Accreditation Field Assessment. This activity, which took place at FISIPOL UGM, is part of the higher education quality assurance system aimed at ensuring that all academic processes and program governance are in accordance with nationally and internationally established standards.

Throughout this assessment process, all internal and external stakeholders were actively involved. The dean’s office, department and program heads, faculty members, support staff, the Quality Assurance Unit (UJM), current students, alumni, and employers of graduates were present to provide information and verify data. This cross-sectoral involvement reflects the fact that educational quality assurance is not the responsibility of a single party, but rather a collective effort that requires transparency and accountability throughout the entire educational delivery chain.

Quality assurance in this process does not stop at the data verification stage, but also includes providing constructive feedback for continuous improvement. During one of the discussion sessions, the assessment team raised several points regarding the completeness of supporting documents as part of the evaluation process. In response, “We’ll just add them later,” said an assessor, emphasizing that the accreditation process is dynamic and allows for gradual improvements to achieve higher quality standards.

After holding sessions with various stakeholders, the assessment team worked independently to draft the minutes and recommendations based on the assessment results. The series of activities concluded with the presentation of feedback to the program directors and the signing of the Field Assessment Minutes. This stage served as a crucial moment for the program to reflect on its achievements while identifying areas that still need improvement.

The continuation of this field assessment initiative aligns with UGM’s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4—Quality Education—through the strengthening of a quality assurance system focused on continuous improvement. Furthermore, the involvement of all stakeholders both on campus and externally reflects SDG 16—Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, which emphasizes the importance of transparent and accountable institutional governance, as well as SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals, which is realized through close collaboration between universities, accreditation agencies, assessors, and all stakeholder partners to ensure meaningful and competitive education.
