Yogyakarta, October 8th 2021─Starting today, the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (Fisipol) of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) is officially led by the new dean, Dr. Wawan Mas’udi, S.IP, MPA who serves as the Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences of UGM for the period of 2021 – 2026.

Dr. Wawan together with 18 new deans from all faculties at UGM were inaugurated by the Rector of UGM, Prof. Ir. Panut Mulyono, M.Eng., Ph.D., IPU., ASEAN Eng., at the Senate Hall, UGM Hall. “In the hands of all of you, UGM hopes that progress for progress will continue to be achieved and increase so that our contribution to society and the country is greater and increased,” said the Rector of UGM. The Rector also advised the new deans to continue the achievements and progress that had been pioneered by their predecessor deans. read more

Yogyakarta, October 7th 2021─The Department of Communication Science (Dikom) together with DECODE organized the NGOPI Series of the FISIPOL UGM’s 66th Anniversary, with the theme “Digital Nagari Palihan: Adaptation Strategy and Digital Migration Readiness for Business Actors in the Communication and Economy Sector” (07/10).The first session discussed the research and learning carried out by the Dikom and DECODE teams regarding the digital skills of SME entrepreneurs in the tourism village of Pentingsari Village. This research is motivated by the COVID-19 pandemic situation which has an impact on tourist villages. Ginarti, an SME entrepreneur from Ginarti Garden from Pentingsari Village, admitted that the COVID-19 pandemic caused the number of tourists to decrease. This condition requires citizens to do business through digital platforms, including SME entrepreneurs who are not yet digitally savvy. read more

Yogyakarta, October 7th 2021─On Thursday (7/10), the Social Research Center or SOREC which is under the Department of Sociology of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences UGM held another monthly discussion. The Monthly Discussion which was held through the Zoom Meeting platform presented three speakers with different backgrounds to discuss the topics raised, it was “Breaking Boundaries: Solidarity Practices and Wadas Social Advocacy.” Citra Maudy, Alumni of Sociology UGM class of 2016, as moderator, guided the discussion by asking questions to each speaker in turn. read more

Yogyakarta, October 6th 2021─The Department of Public Management and Policy (DMKP) Fisipol UGM held a MKP Book Corner #1 titled “Governance and Staffing Reformation In Indonesia’s Public Sector” on Wednesday (6/10). The book reviewed was from the State of the Art series titled Overview of Management Studies and Public Policy in Indonesia. The event was held virtually through Zoom Meeting with speakers from DMKP Fisipol UGM such as Prof. Dr. Agus Pramusinto, MDA. and Dr. Ambar Widaningrum, as well as Dr. Falih Suaedi, M. Si. as a lecturer from Public Administration FISIP Airlangga University.  read more

Yogyakarta, October 5th 2021─The Department of Governmental Politics (DPP) Fisipol UGM held a public talk show with AAGN Ari Dwipayana, The Presidential Special Staff as the speaker. The event was held online with the title of “Behind the Scenes of Working in the Government Inner Circle”. On this occasion, the event was attended by 101 people with Devy Dhian Cahyati, a lecturer in DPP Fisipol UGM, as the moderator. The topics covered in the event were the experience of the speaker in the government, the dynamics of working in the government, and the lessons learned.  read more

Yogyakarta, October 4th 2021–The Department of Communication Studies, Fisipol, UGM is a partner in the online Southeast Asia Conference on Media, Art, and Cinema (SEA-MCA) 2021 held by Center for Southeast Asian Social Study (CESASS) UGM on 4–5 October 2021. The online conference held the theme of “Rediscovering Southeast Asia Amidst It’s Multi-Layered Burdens”.

The Director of CESASS and a Professor in the The Department of Communication Studies Fisipol UGM, Hermin Indah Wahyuni, said that the theme of the event was based on the social and political condition of Southeast Asian countries that are more complex as the Covid-19 pandemic goes on. She hopes that the conference attended by hundreds of participants from all across Southeast Asia can help in analyzing the dynamics of Southeast Asian countries through relevant topics. “There are 79 papers from five countries; Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Hongkong, and Singapore, that will be presented in the parallel panel sessions,” said Hermin. read more

Right now, there are pretty clear changes in the process of job recruitment. According to the speaker, the recruitment process goes faster, where it used to take years now it only takes a month. BPS Data shows that the fresh graduate trend is increasing from year to year, therefore fresh graduates need to realize that the competition in the workforce is very high. 

The selection process is also different in every company, but generally the selection process starts from cv screening, followed by a psychotest, then LGD or FGD, interview, and medical check up. Now that the recruitment process is done online, the once complex and long process is shorter and cheaper to go through.  read more

The discussion started with the presentation of the material entitled “Genocide ‘65: Government Conscience and Reconciliation” from the first speaker, Soe Tjen Marching, a lecturer at SOAS University of London and the author of Dari Dalam Kubur. In her presentation, Soe Tjen talked a lot about the urgency of justice for the survivors of the ‘65 Tragedy. Soe Tjen also took several examples and quoted her writings in the book Dari Dalam Kubur which also departed from the true story of the ‘65 Tragedy. Soe Tjen’s presentation of material also invited many positive responses from the participants. During the question and answer session after the presentation of the material, many participants used the raise their hand feature on the Zoom Meeting platform and wrote questions in the comments column to be answered directly by Soe Tjen. read more

Yogyakarta, October 1st 2021─FISIPOL Crisis Center (FCC) is back with the third FCC Talk on Friday (1/10). FCC Talk is one of the implementations of FCC education and socialization functions in order to prevent sexual violence on campus, especially at FISIPOL UGM. In collaboration with Unala Youth, a youth-friendly health service provider in Yogyakarta, this time the FCC Talk is also an effort to involve various parties in realizing a safe campus. Presenting Putri as a representative from Unala Youth, at this FCC Talk, Puspa and Yoseph from the FCC Education and Socialization Division talked about “Sexual Harassment: How Can We Stop It?” via an Instagram live broadcast session. read more

This event was held by presenting resource person Erfan Ariyaputra, an expert in the field of Training and Development. On this occasion, the event was held online with discussion guides Nita Harmisa Dean and Arkananta Buwana, students of Public Policy Management (MKP) Fisipol UGM. This morning’s discussion was attended by 50 participants with various interesting discussions about leadership, ranging from basic definitions to various skills that can be developed to become characters that are able to adapt to changing times. read more
