Yogyakarta, September 21st 2020—Center for Digital Society FISIPOL UGM held the 34th Digital Discussion on Sunday night (21/9). The event was titled “Optimizing Your Writing Skill in the Digital Area” and invited Amelia Pandu, a project officer of research in CfDS, as the main speaker. As usual, Made Agus Bayu, an event assistant of CfDS, was acting as the moderator. The event went on from 19.00-21.00 in Whatsapp Group.

In the digital era, there are a lot of things made easy when it comes to writing. This includes when we are in the process of writing or when we want to improve our skills on writing. The existence of the internet allows us to find a lot of material reference when writing. Additionally, we can check our rate of plagiarism and our grammar correctness easier, as well as publicize our writing on various platforms. For university students, writing is an inevitable activity. Be it in the form of essay, op-ed, material resume, book review, research findings, and more. The majority of universities also still makes it mandatory for university students to create a form of writing as a requirement for graduation. read more

Yogyakarta, September 21st 2020—Career Development Center (CDC) Fisipol created a webinar titled “Scholarship Sharing: Get Your Higher Studies Experience in Norway” with Ayudhira Pradati, an awardee of the Norway Quota Scheme Scholarship who is also the head of Indonesia Student Committee in Oslo. In this webinar, she shared her experience through the Zoom platform.

Ayudhira Pradati — better known as Dhira — started the sharing session by talking about the charm of Norway as a place to pursue higher studies. “In Norway, there are a lot of interesting and varying departments and classes. The local culture here, shown through art, tradition, music, and food, is also marvelous. It’s a shame that not many people know about the scholarship offered here when in reality the scholarship offers so many things to the student,” Dhira said. read more

Emma is a batch 2018 student of FISIPOL UGM’s Communication Study who not long ago won the International Table Tennis Championship in Malaysia with her team from UGM. The girl who just turned 20 on 3rd September talks about her long process towards the accomplishment she got. In this occasion, there were two speakers, Alfin Febrian Basundoro, the Deputy Chairman of the Department of Reasoning of UPII UGM, and Caesar Leonardo, Director of The Student Association of Belt and Road Initiative (SABRI) Chapter UGM, it was moderated by Handono Ega P., the Staff of Publication of IIS FISIPOL UGM. Yogyakarta, September 18th 2020—Sociopreneurship UGM came back with another Centangbiru program, Cerita tentang Bisnis dan Insight Terbaru. This time, Centangbiru program was held especially because of the first class of Sociopreneurship UGM in the first semester of 2020/2021 school year. This time, Centangbiru presented eleven CEOs from leading companies and institutions in Indonesia directly through YouTube broadcasts.

The Sociopreneurship class is an interdisciplinary course for all of the UGM students, other campuses, and for the public who wants to look for solutions to social problems. After succeeding with the first batch in the last semester, the Social Entrepreneurship class was held again in this semester. The second batch of Social Entrepreneurship class provides eleven lecture programs and one monthly program in collaboration with eleven organizing partners, whose representatives are speakers in this Centangbiru program. read more

Yogyakarta, 14 September 2020—Center for Digital Society Fisipol UGM is back with the 33rd Digital Discussion on Sunday night. The digital discussion via Whatsapp Group raised the topic of “Maintaining Study Life Balance in the Digital Era”. Haris Hendrik, the second runner up of the Accomplished University Student Award UGM 2020, is the speaker in this session. As usual, the event started at 7 pm and was moderated by Made Agus Bayu, an Event Assistant for CfDS.

One of the biggest indicators that a university student has reached a good study-life balance is good time management. The art of action priority matrix says that we need to prioritise based on the impact and effort of an action. There are four basic areas to consider when doing time management; quick wins, big projects, fill ins, and wasted time. “Now, what everyone has to avoid are big wasted time or small impact, big effort actions. These actions will take a lot of time but will give us little to no impact,” Haris said. read more

Yogyakarta, September 11th 2020 – Sharing Session which was held by Creative Hub Fisipol UGM on Friday (11/9) presented Rudy Suryanto, the expert of BUMDes also the lecturer of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY), as the speaker. Through the Google Meet platform, this event brought a topic “Unpopular Business: BUMDes and How to Survive in a Crisis Period”. Matahari Farransahat, the director of C-Hub Fisipol UGM, became the moderator of this event.

BUMDes (Villages’ Enterprises) are growing rapidly every year, until now, around 51,149 BUMDes have been formed. From the last month’s data, as many as 39,634 were re-registered, it means that several BUMDes are inactive after they were established. But, from those numbers, turned out more than 10,000 BUMDes are still active during this pandemic. Rudi assessed that there are several factors that distinguish BUMDes that are still or not moving. First, full support from the village government and community participation or cohesiveness. “The only way to survive a crisis is with togetherness, mobilize the social solidarity that will become financial capital, how gotong royong is used to survive a crisis (pandemic),” Rudy said. read more

This woman who is familiarly called Kalis is also an active writer in several websites such as Mojok, Detik, and Geo Times. In this Difussion #33, Kalis was invited to share her views and knowledge regarding the urgencies of RUU PKS and analyzing the problematics of gender-based online sexual violence which was normalized by some people. read more
