Fisipol Creative Hub Talk Show: Startups As a Solution to Challenge the Industry 4.0

The challenges of tomorrow are becoming harder to face. The fourth industrial revolution (Industry 4.0) has erased numerous jobs. However, plenty of new opportunities have also emerged through innovations to solve problems,” as stated by the Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences during his opening speech at the Fisipol Creative Hub talk show that was held in a collaboration with Plug and Play Indonesia on Monday (21/1).

With the topic of “What are some problems that a startup can solve?”, Fisipol Creative Hub featured three main speakers; Dr. Wawan Mas’udi (Vice Dean of Academic and Student Affairs), Wesley Harjono (Managing Director of GK PnP) and Riki Sanjaya (Operational Director of Young on Top). The event, which was held in Mandiri Auditorium on the 4th floor of the Fisipol UGM building, has successfully attracted the interests of various participants, ranging from high school students to university students from all across Yogyakarta. read more

Maintaining The Spirit of Togetherness of Christmas at Fisipol UGM

Yogyakarta, 10 January 2019 – The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (Fisipol) UGM celebrated Christmas and New Year’s Eve on Monday (10/1) at the West Hall of Fisipol UGM. This event was themed “The Wisdom of Jesus Christ For Us,” and was attended by the faculty members of Fisipol UGM.

This event was started with the lighting of candles, led by the Dean of Fisipol UGM, Dr.Erwan Agus Purwanto,M.Si, and was proceeded by an opening speech by the Head of the Committee. “With the spirit of Christmas, our unity must always be preserved,” as stated by Silverius Djuni Prihatin as the head of this year’s Christmas and New Year’s Eve celebration committee. read more

Reviewing the Relevance of Indonesia’s Free and Active Foreign Politics The 70th anniversary of Free and Active Politics, Is It Still Relevant?

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Institute of International Studies Universitas Gadjah Mada (IIS UGM) and the Association of International Relations Science of Indonesia (AIHII) held a convention entitled ‘Reviewing 70 years of Indonesia’s Free and Active Politics’ on Wednesday (5/9). The convention, which was held in the Senate Hall of UGM Rectorate was intended to commemorate the 70 years of Indonesia’s free and active politics. On the 2nd of September, 70 years ago, Indonesia’s Vice President, Drs. Moh. Hatta in a meeting session of the Central Indonesian National Committee formulated the framework of Indonesia’s foreign politics, which is known as “Free and Active Politics”. In this framework, Indonesia does not only accentuate neutrality, but also aims to strengthen and uphold world peace.

At this convention, the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. A.M. Fachir attended as a keynote speaker. In his session, Vice FM A.M. Fachir explained several essential points of Bung Hatta’s speech. “First, should we choose between the two blocs? Second, as a nation, we should not be an object in the international battle. Last, we must be a subject that is rightful to determine our own positions and purposes,’ as stated by Vice FM A.M. Fachir. He also stated that Indonesia is consistent with the free and active politics policy and continues to contribute. Examples include the establishment of the Asia Africa Conference (KAA), one of the initiators of the Association of South East Asia Nations (ASEAN) and others. read more

Understanding Synergy in Empowerment Through Discussion and Book Review : “Mendayung Semangat, Menggapai Keberdayaan”

Yogyakarta, 27th of August 2018-In recent years, social programs that are aimed to solve public issues are facing a significant change. Not only it is improving quantitatively, but also the actors that are participating in empowerment programs are also improving. Previously centred on charity, current social programs are shifting towards capacity building and empowerment. As a result, the self-sustainment and the sustainability of the programs can be felt by the society. This shift was discussed on the event ‘Discussion & Book Review: Rowing Towards Empowerment’, which was held by KAPSTRA FISIPOL UGM in cooperation with the Department of Social Development and Welfare (PSdK) FISIPOL UGM and Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore North West Java (PHE ONWJ). read more
