A Mini Joint International Seminar was held by Global Engagement Office of FISIPOL UGM and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) on Thursday, 13 July 2017. This seminar addressed the theme of “The Roles of Youth on Transforming the Nation”. Both universities sent their student delegates to present their ideas abouth youth and their prominent roles.
On UGM side, Farras Muhammad, Irmaningsih Pudyastuti, Joko Susilo, and Dilla Novita from YouSure FISIPOL UGM were the student delegates representing Indonesia. While on UKM side, Muhammad Zulfikri bin Zainuddin, Mohd Hairul Izwan bin Mohd Kasran, and Muhammad Zulfikri bin Muslim were the representatives from Malaysia.
In their presentation, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia emphasized national identity building for the youth. At the same time, YouSure FISIPOL UGM explained the history of youth movement in Indonesia including contemporary youth issues and the role of UGM in empowering youth to contribute more to the country.
Participants were very engaging in their discussion. They exchanged thoughts about how youth in both countries can help in transforming the society. The occasion aimed to further strengthen the relationship between Universitas Gadjah Mada and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and also Indonesia and Malaysia.
