Yogyakarta, October 21st 2024─In order to close the Mental Health Society 2024, CDC Fisipol UGM held an exhibition entitled Fail-A-Bration in the West Hall of Fisipol UGM on October 24-25, 2024. The exhibition aims to provide a platform for students to reflect on their experiences with failure, encouraging a more positive and constructive view towards setbacks in life.

The main purpose of the Fail-A-Bration Exhibition is to provide a space for students to look at failure from a new perspective. It is hoped that students can view failure as an integral part of the learning and achievement process, not something to be avoided or feared. According to Valenidha Sulafi, Project Officer of Mental Health Society 2024, the theme “failure” was chosen specifically to inspire students to be more accepting of ups and downs in life. read more

Yogyakarta, 18th of October 2024—Fisipol UGM’s CDC held a story-sharing event called “Spill the Tea! #2: Tea Time with Peer Counselor CDC”. This event became the second tea-sipping session with CDC’s Peer Counselor, after the last one was held in 2023. Spill the Tea! #2 became one of the various series of events done in Fisipol Mental Health Society 2024. The activity, which was packaged in the form of semi-group counseling, was held in Fisipol’s Selasar Barat. Each group consisted of 5 to 6 students and each group had their own peer-counselor from Fisipol’s CDC. Alongside sharing stories and expressing themselves, students are also encouraged to brew and make their own tea in the afternoon, creating a suitable and comfortable atmosphere for everyone to enjoy. read more

Yogyakarta, October 17th 2024─Opportunities for students to do an internship or work either part-time or full-time are now increasingly wide open. Many offers are given both by companies and the Ministry of Research and Technology, especially through the MBKM program which facilitates students to learn in the work environment directly. Responding to this phenomenon, Career Development Center (CDC) Fisipol UGM held another Internship Preparation Series with the theme “Work Ethics and Violence Prevention: Meaning and Implementation”. read more

Yogyakarta, 17th of October 2024—Communication Festival (Commufal) 2024 is an event that aims to introduce insights around the Department of Communication Sciences, including the dynamics of college, assignments, and career prospects. Commufal 2024 was held for two days on the 16th-17th of October 2024. On the second day, there was a career talk show, which invited media and journalistic practitioners from both TVRI and ARTJOG. 

Commufal 2024 was held at Fisipol’s Selasar Barat and Taman Sansiro by displaying various unique and fun activities, including Talkshow Communicare and Open Booth Job Fair. One of the main highlights from this event was the talk show, which focused on the introduction of career opportunities in the communications sector. The Talkshow Comunicareer, which was held on the second day of the event, carries the theme of the work dynamics of both the media and journalism. read more

Yogyakarta, 14th of October 2024—As a form of actualization of The World Mental Health Day on October 10, CDC of Fisipol UGM has arranged a series of events titled “Mental Health Society” in Fisipol UGM. This event opened with the pre-event that chose the concept of catharsis with the title “Road to Failure Week”. This pre-event activity began with the concept of catharsis, which is the process of releasing pent-up emotions stored in the heart.

This event, which was held in Taman Sansiro Fisipol UGM, invited the students to write their feelings and emotions regarding their past failures or missed opportunities due to the fear of failure. This catharsis was held due to the fact that students nowadays are facing even higher pressure and expectations, in the academic sector as well as their personal lives. These expectations are often unrealistic.  read more

Manchester, October 11th 2024─Faculty of Social and Political Sciences of Universitas Gadjah Mada, together with Ashoka University, Mahidol University, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, University of Manchester, University of Melbourne, University of Nairobi and University of Toronto, who are members of the Global Humanities Alliance held a “Global Humanities Alliance Launch Event” on Friday, October 11th 2024. Taking place at Alliance Manchester Business School, Booth St W, Manchester M15 6PB, the event was the official launch of an international partnership, the Global Humanities Alliance (GHA), between 8 universities worldwide. The launch event was also marked by the official signing of a letter of intent from each university representative as a form of commitment to active involvement in the GHA. read more

Yogyakarta, 10 October 2024—Digital transformation is now taking place in a deep and profound way. The challenges of regulating digital transformation call for a greater spotlight on the importance of inclusive and equitable digital technology. In response to this discourse, CfDS officially closed the Digital Society Week 2024 event series by launching the AI Policy Monitoring Dashboard.

Through a series of activities from Digital Society Week 2024, CfDS UGM developed various issues regarding digital transformation. In the Closing Ceremony of Digital Society Week 2024, held at Auditorium Mandiri Fisipol, CfDS UGM launched the AI Policy Dashboard, an integrated research tool that collects, analyzes, and summarizes AI or artificial intelligence policies in Indonesia. read more

Yogyakarta, 9th of October 2024—The 7th day of Digital Society Week event discussed the intersection of education, the education system, and digital technology. This discussion was opened with a discussion session regarding the rampant use of online loans (pinjol), which is currently used as a ‘solution’ to the problem of increasing tuition fees. This discussion session was led by Hilman Nuraman and reviewed by two speakers, namely Arifatus Sholekhah (Researcher at CfDS) and Achmed Faiz (Researcher at CfDS). read more

Yogyakarta, 8 October 2024─The digital economy has grown so significantly that it has changed how people interact, work and conduct business. Digital technology has become the main driver in accelerating economic growth and opening up the potential to answer the needs of society. Through the 6th day of Digital Society Week, the Center for Digital Society explored the issue in two discussion sessions that raised the topic of financial inclusion in the digital era.

Community involvement is one of the most important considerations in economic growth. Financial inclusion means prioritizing community involvement in the development of financial technology. In this case, the biggest contribution is made through Super Apps, which provide easy access to various financial services. read more
