Strengthening Southeast Asian Studies, UGM’s Faculty of Social and Political Sciences Holds Visiting Scholar Workshop with Dr. Priyambudi Sulistiyanto

Yogyakarta, April 16, 2026 – The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) UGM held a workshop titled “Comparative Southeast Asia” on Thursday (April 16). This academic event was part of a series of visiting scholar programs by Dr. Priyambudi Sulistiyanto, an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at Flinders University, Australia. The workshop was attended by doctoral students, lecturers, and academics from various institutions.

Dr. Priyambudi’s presence provided a valuable discourse space for participants to deepen their insights into the political, social, and cultural dynamics of the Southeast Asian region through a comparative approach. In his research, he compared three Southeast Asian countries: Indonesia, Thailand, and Burma (Myanmar). He also shared his field experiences, from the similarities and differences he found during the 1997 political and economic crisis, the dynamics of field research, to his reflections, which are included in the book “Melawai ke Asia.” read more

Professional, Responsive, and of International Standard: Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) UGM Holds Public Relations and Protocol Training

Yogyakarta, April 15, 2026—FISIPOL UGM trained 25 educational staff in public relations and protocol on Wednesday in the Dean’s Meeting Room to improve their professionalism in handling events with important guests.

This training aims to equip educational staff with practical knowledge regarding ceremonial procedures, venue layout, respect, and dress code for official events in accordance with government standards. The UGM Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) Wellness Center Holds Health Check-ups with Residents of Tegal Barep Village, Wukirsari, Cangkringan

Yogyakarta, April 11, 2026─The UGM Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) Wellness Center held a Community Service activity in the form of a POSBINDU health check-up today, Saturday (April 11). The activity, which began at 8:00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB), took place in Tegal Barep Hamlet, Bulak Salak, RT 03 RW 46, Wukirsari, Cangkringan, Yogyakarta.

The event, titled “Health Check-up with the UGM Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) Wellness Center in Celebration of the 27th Anniversary of GEMPUR” was specifically organized through a strategic collaboration between several parties, including the UGM Faculty of Social and Political Sciences Wellness Center, the UGM Hospital (RSA) healthcare workers, the Tegal Barep Hamlet community, and the local Youth Organization (Karang Taruna). read more

The Sejahtera Bersama Sospol Cooperative Holds an Annual Members Meeting for All Cooperative Members: Deliberation on the Cooperative’s Future

Yogyakarta, March 9, 2026—The Sejahtera Bersama Sospol Cooperative held its Annual Members Meeting for the 2025 fiscal year on Monday (March 9) at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences Auditorium, Gadjah Mada University (UGM). As an implementation of the cooperative’s value of equality, the Annual Members Meeting invited all members to attend and share their opinions on the future of the cooperative. Furthermore, discussions, ranging from implementation results, plans, and oversight, were openly presented to all cooperative members.Wawan Mas’udi, advisor to the Sejahtera Bersama Sospol Cooperative, stated, “Cooperative membership is equal; there are no lecturers, no tenders, no seniors or juniors. The principle of cooperatives is equality and equality of members. Therefore, we ask that everyone share their ideas for the future development of the cooperative,” he said.

Wawan also emphasized the need to expand business branches to improve shared prosperity. “I hope that the upcoming AGM we hold won’t just be satisfied with the current management. Our cooperative’s future success lies in expanding its business,” he said.

Breaking the Fast Together with the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) UGM Becomes a Means of Strengthening the Relationship of the Academic Community

Yogyakarta, March 9, 2026—Lecturers, educational staff, and students of FISIPOL UGM broke their fast together and listened to a sermon from Prof. Suryono in the West Hallway on Monday afternoon (March 9). This breaking the fast was not only used to break the fast, but also as a moment of togetherness for the FISIPOL UGM community. The Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, UGM, Wawan Mas’udi, said, “Of course, our breaking of the fast today is not solely to break the fast, as the main purpose of breaking the fast is to break the fast. The Department of Social Development and Welfare (PSdK) of UGM Undergoes LAMSPAK Field Accreditation Assessment

Yogyakarta, March 6, 2026 ─ The Undergraduate Program in Social Development and Welfare (PSdK) of UGM conducted its LAMSPAK Field Accreditation Assessment on Friday (March 5). The series of activities took place in the Dean’s Meeting Room of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) of UGM and will continue in the PSdK Meeting Room. The assessment was attended by the assessor team, deans, department and study program leaders, lecturers, quality assurance units, student representatives, alumni, and users. The event was officially opened by the Dean of FISIPOL UGM, Dr. Wawan Mas’udi. In his remarks, Wawan emphasized that this accreditation assessment is a crucial opportunity to map potential and evaluate the study program’s governance. “This is an effort to uncover the study program’s strengths. If there is anything that needs to be developed in terms of documentation during the assessment process, it will be addressed,” Wawan said. Representatives from the assessment team conveyed that this event served as a dialogue and exploration of the experiences of study program and faculty managers in governance and quality assurance systems at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM).

Following the opening ceremony, the event continued with a brief profile presentation by the Study Program Management Unit (UPPS), the establishment of the Final Evaluation Document (FED), and a session on Internal Quality Assurance Implementation. A dialogue with students, lecturers, educational staff, alumni, and users was the final session before the assessment closed.
