Yogyakarta, 19 September 2025 — As part of the 70th Anniversary (Dies Natalis) series, the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL), Universitas Gadjah Mada, officially announced the winners of the FISIPOL Undergraduate Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition 2025, along with the Best Undergraduate Thesis Awards from each department.

From ODA to OSA: Japan’s Strategy to Dominate the Global Cooperation Stage

Yogyakarta, March 31, 2026 – The Department of International Relations (DIHI) of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), in collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), held a public lecture entitled “A Japanese Approach to International Cooperation,” which reviewed Japan’s approach to building international cooperation. Raising Environmental Issues, the Gadjah Mada Youth Team from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) Successfully Completes Expedition and Community Service in the IKN

Yogyakarta, March 5, 2026─The Gadjah Mada Youth Team from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) completed a 14-day expedition, social project, and research program in the Indonesian Capital City (IKN). The team consisted of 12 students from the Faculty Student Activity Unit (UKMF) of the Nature and Environment Lovers Group (KPALH) of the FISIPOL Secretariat.

The activity, titled the Environmental Conservation Mission, ran from January 26 to February 10, 2026, and focused on mapping environmental governance, specifically waste management, while also providing concrete contributions to the communities in the buffer zone of the IKN, including Bumi Harapan Village, Pemaluan Subdistrict, and SMPN 27 Penajam Paser Utara (PPU). read more

Yogyakarta, March 4, 2026 — The Youth Studies Center (YouSure) Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada, collaborated with the Youth, Human Capital, & Future of Work (YHCFW) Research Group of the Population Research Center of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) in a book discussion titled Reading Group Reboan #141 “Introduction to Youth Perspectives: Transition, Culture, and Social Generation.” The online event on Wednesday (March 4) examined the latest work by Dr. Oki Rahadianto Sutopo and Elok Santi Jesica, S.Pd, M.A. published in 2025. read more

UGM’s Faculty of Social and Political Sciences Discusses the Farmer Regeneration Crisis and Transnational Agrarian Activism

Yogyakarta, 5 February 2026─The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), through the Social Research Center of the Department of Sociology, held a Public Discussion and Book Launch of the Peasant and Agrarian Change Study Series entitled “The Indonesian Farmer Regeneration Crisis and Transnational Agrarian Activism” today, Thursday (February 5) at the UGM Faculty of Social and Political Sciences Auditorium.

Featuring Jun Borras (author of the books “The Political Dynamics of Transnational Agrarian Movements” and “Scholarly Activism & Agrarian Struggle”), Amalinda Savirani (Professor of the Department of Politics and Government, Universitas Gadjah Mada), Pitra Hutomo (Circle of Spatial Justice), Ben White (author of the book “Agriculture & Generational Problems”), and Oki Rahadianto Sutopo (Lecturer in the Department of Sociology, Universitas Gadjah Mada), this discussion focused on in-depth perspectives on the dynamics of agrarian change in the context of the farmer regeneration crisis and the challenges of agrarian justice in Indonesia. read more

Undergraduate Program of International Relations Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) Achieves Excellent Accreditation

Yogyakarta, November 3, 2025—The Department of International Relations, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), has successfully achieved UNGGUL accreditation for its Undergraduate Study Program. This accreditation is carried out by the Independent Accreditation Institute for Social, Political, Administrative, and Communication Sciences (LAMSPAK), which has designed assessment instruments and criteria that refer to several quality references as criteria for assessing study program accreditation eligibility. read more

FISIPOL UGM Students Win 1st Place in National Scientific Article Competition at SOCIUS 2025

The Soenario Kolopaking Team from the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has won first place in the National Student Scientific Article Competition at the Sociology Competition of Unesa (SOCIUS) 2025, organized by Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA). The competition ran from June 10 to August 3, 2025, and was participated in by eight universities from across Indonesia.

The Soenario Kolopaking Team consists of Nurima Setianingrum and Afkaar Nabil Falah. Under the guidance of Gregorius Ragil Wibawanto, M.A., the team successfully presented their scientific paper titled “The Public Between the State and the Market: The Struggle of Female Online Ojek Drivers in Layered and Persistent Vulnerability.” read more

KOMAHI FISIPOL UGM Hosts International Relations English Competition 2025: Inspiring Young Leaders to Think Critically and Globally

Yogyakarta, 12 September 2025 — The International Relations Student Corps (KOMAHI) of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) at Universitas Gadjah Mada officially opened the International Relations English Competition (IREC) 2025, a prestigious annual event for high school students across Indonesia. Over three days, from 12–14 September 2025, participants showcase their English proficiency while deepening their understanding of pressing global issues.

The event began with a keynote lecture by Arief Rizky Bakhtiar, Senior Officer for Analysis and Monitoring on Trade, Industry, and Emerging Issues at ASEAN, who offered insightful perspectives on regional trade dynamics, industry trends, and key strategic issues. read more

CfDS UGM Celebrates a Decade: Driving a Human-Centered & Inclusive Digital Ecosystem Aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals

Yogyakarta, 9 September 2025 – The Center for Digital Society (CfDS) at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) Universitas Gadjah Mada celebrated its tenth anniversary under the theme “A New Era to Rethink Digital.” The celebration also marked the launch of the 2025 Digital Intelligence Course (MKKD), which carries the topic “Building a Human-Centered and Inclusive Digital Ecosystem.”

Since its establishment ten years ago, CfDS has consistently empowered communities through research and advocacy in digital transformation. One of its flagship initiatives is MKKD, a free digital literacy class initiated in collaboration with the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) in 2020. To date, MKKD has reached more than 40,000 participants and features instructors from across sectors, including academia, government, and industry. read more

The Undergraduate Program in International Relations, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL), Universitas Gadjah Mada, underwent an on-site accreditation assessment by the Independent Accreditation Agency for Social, Political, Administrative, and Communication Sciences (LAMSPAK) on Thursday (September 11). The two-day assessment, held on September 11–12, 2025, took place in Room BB 208, FISIPOL UGM Dean’s Building, using instruments and evaluation criteria based on several quality references for study program accreditation eligibility. read more
