FISIPOL UGM Strengthens Global Partnerships through Strategic Collaboration Talks with Australia’s Murdoch University

The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at Universitas Gadjah Mada (FISIPOL UGM) welcomed a delegation from the Indo-Pacific Research Centre (IPRC), Murdoch University, Australia, for an international visit and discussion held at the Faculty Senate Meeting Room on Monday, June 15, 2026. The delegation was led by Prof. Ian Wilson, Director of the Indo-Pacific Research Centre, and Prof. Jacqueline Lo, both representing Murdoch University.

The visit marked another important step in FISIPOL UGM’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its global academic network and explore strategic partnerships with the Indo-Pacific Research Centre in the areas of education, research, and academic development. The meeting provided an opportunity for both institutions to exchange ideas and identify collaborative initiatives aimed at enhancing academic capacity and producing research with meaningful societal impact. read more

FISIPOL UGM Hosts FORDEKIIS 2026 National Symposium on Advancing High-Quality and Impactful Higher Education Governance

The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at Universitas Gadjah Mada (FISIPOL UGM) hosted the 2026 National Symposium of the Forum of Deans of Social Sciences (FORDEKIIS) on Friday, June 12, 2026, at the FISIPOL UGM Jakarta Campus. The symposium was organized in response to the evolving landscape of higher education governance in Indonesia and the increasingly complex challenges facing social sciences in a rapidly changing global environment.

Carrying the theme “High-Quality and Impactful Higher Education Governance,” the symposium served as a strategic platform for deans and faculty leaders from social science faculties across Indonesia to exchange ideas, share institutional experiences, and develop collaborative strategies for strengthening the future of higher education. read more

FISIPOL UGM and National Economic Council Discuss Critical Minerals Governance to Support a Sustainable Energy Transition

Yogyakarta, June 11, 2026 – The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at Universitas Gadjah Mada (FISIPOL UGM) hosted a national Focus Group Discussion (FGD) titled “Data and Information Gathering for the Development of the South-South Transition Minerals Learning Cohort Policy Paper” on Thursday (June 11). The event was initiated by Indonesia’s National Economic Council (DEN) in collaboration with the Department of Politics and Government at FISIPOL UGM.

The discussion formed part of a broader effort to develop evidence-based policy recommendations on the governance of Indonesia’s critical minerals, as global demand for strategic mineral resources continues to rise in support of the clean energy transition. Bringing together stakeholders from government, academia, and industry, the forum provided a platform to exchange insights, share experiences, and contribute expertise that will inform the preparation of two strategic policy papers. read more

Dean’s Hearing 2026: FISIPOL UGM Strengthens Dialogue and Student Participation in Faculty

The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FISIPOL UGM), once again held the Dean’s Hearing 2026, an open dialogue forum between students and the faculty leadership, on Wednesday (June 10). Held at the West Corridor of FISIPOL UGM, the event served as a platform for students to voice their aspirations, suggestions, and constructive feedback regarding various aspects of academic life and faculty governance.

The forum was attended by the Dean and members of the faculty leadership, faculty administrators, department representatives, as well as students representing various student organizations and communities within FISIPOL UGM. The participation of diverse members of the academic community reflected the faculty’s shared commitment to fostering open communication and participatory governance in the continuous development of the institution. read more

Undergraduate Communication Sciences Program Conducts LAMSPAK Accreditation Assessment

Yogyakarta, May 18, 2026─The Undergraduate Communication Sciences Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL), Universitas Gadjah Mada, is conducting an accreditation field assessment by the Independent Accreditation Institute for Social, Political, Administrative, and Communication Studies (LAMSPAK) on Monday (May 18) in the Dean’s Meeting Room, FISIPOL UGM.

The LAMSPAK assessors present at the assessment were Prof. Dr. Suwandi Sumartias, M.Si., and Dr. Irwansyah, S.Sos., M.A. The two assessors conducted a series of comprehensive assessments of various aspects of the study program’s implementation, from the curriculum and learning process to governance, to outcomes and impacts on society and the academic world, in line with the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. read more

The Social Research Centre (SOREC) of FISIPOL UGM Holds a Film Screening and Discussion of “Pig Feast”

Yogyakarta, May 12, 2026─SOREC FISIPOL UGM initiated the “Papuan Solidarity Space for Land Sovereignty, Food, and Life,” which included a screening and discussion of the film “Pig Feast.” Held on Tuesday (May 12) in the 4th Floor Auditorium of FISIPOL UGM, the event was well-attended by members of the FISIPOL UGM academic community and the general public.

The event began with a screening of “Pig Feast,” directed by Dandhy Dwi Laksono and the entire documentary team. The discussion continued with a discussion session moderated by Sana Ulaili (Forum Cik Di Tiro) and invited three moderators: Bagus Sulistiono (Center for Capacity Development and Cooperation (PPKK) FISIPOL UGM), Made Supriatma (CRRS, Knowledge Council YLBHI), and Herni Saraswati (Women Farmers). The discussion focused on the issues raised in the film, which were then addressed by the Papuan Student Alliance (AMP) and the Papuan Indigenous Peoples of the Meepago, Lapago, and Animha Regions. read more

UGM Undergraduate Program in Political Science and Government Undergoes LAMSPAK Accreditation Field Assessment

Yogyakarta, April 30, 2026─The Undergraduate Program in Political Science and Government conducted a LAMSPAK Accreditation Field Assessment on Thursday (April 30). This series of activities took place in the Dean’s Meeting Room of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) UGM.

The assessment was attended by the dean’s office, department and study program heads, lecturers, educational staff, quality assurance units, student representatives, alumni, and external users. The assessors tasked with reviewing the field assessment were Dr. Dewi Erowati, S.Sos., M.Si. from Universitas Diponegoro and Prof. Dr.phil. Aditya Perdana, S.IP., M.Si. from the Universitas Indonesia. read more

The Social Development and Welfare Master’s Program at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences UGM Achieves Excellent Accreditation

Yogyakarta, April 27, 2026—The Department of Social Development and Welfare at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada, has successfully achieved UNGGUL (excellent) accreditation for its Master’s Program. This accreditation is conducted by the Independent Accreditation Institute for Social, Political, Administrative, and Communication Sciences (LAMSPAK), which uses assessment criteria aligned with several quality benchmarks for study program accreditation eligibility. read more

UGM Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) Holds Exhibition and Dissemination of Volunteer Documentation in Aceh and the Indonesian Capital (IKN)

Yogyakarta, April 24, 2026 – The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) UGM held an “Exhibition and Dissemination of FISIPOL Volunteer Documentation in Aceh and the IKN.” The event, themed “Recording Teaching, Reflecting on Learning, and Strengthening Service,” took place on Friday (April 24) at 1:00 PM WIB in the 4th Floor Auditorium and West Corridor of FISIPOL UGM.

The Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Gadjah Mada University, Dr. Wawan Mas’udi, expressed his appreciation for the students who are members of the Bala Gadjah Mada Setrajana team who have visited the IKN and the Fisipol Mengajar team in Aceh. “The venues are different, the activities seem different, but they share the same mission: the disaster situation and potential for disaster that require special attention from the campus, so I express my gratitude,” Wawan said in his remarks. read more

The Department of Sociology, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Holds Thematic Analysis Workshop with Prof. Martin Lindhart, Closing the Visiting Scholar Program

Yogyakarta, April 23, 2026 — The Department of Sociology, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FISIPOL), held a data analysis workshop entitled “Thematic Analysis and Its Use in the Study of Pentecostal Representations of God” in Room BA 204 on Thursday (April 23) from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Western Indonesian Time.

This workshop marked the final event of the visiting scholar program by Professor Martin Lindhardt (University of Southern Denmark) at FISIPOL UGM. Previously, he had presented two sessions: a sharing session on “Digital Sociology: Recent Developments in the Sociological Study of Relations between Digital Technologies and Social Life” and a public lecture on “The Economics of Pentecostal/Charismatic Christianity.” read more
