More than Sustainable, the C-Hub Talent Pitching Webinar Opening Pushes the Regenerative Entrepreneur Spirit

Yogyakarta, June 13th 2025—In an ever-changing world faced with many social, environmental, and economic challenges, a big question arises: What if businesses are not just profit-oriented, but also think about the impact? This question became a very intriguing introduction in the opening webinar for the 9th Batch of the C-Hub Talent Pitching, a yearly program which pushes the spirit of social entrepreneurship among youths. Bringing the theme of “Future-Fit”, this program is back again with new spirits in placing inclusivity and sustainability as the main foundation for building a brighter future. In the webinar titled “Future-Driven Entrepreneurship for a Sustainable Tomorrow”, Fisipol UGM’s Creative Hub presented two inspirational speakers, none other than Satya Dewastra B. W., founder of Ailesh, and Rika Novayanti, expert strategic communication on environment, as well as the Co-founder of Mosaic.

In their explanation, Rika Novayanti introduced the approach of system thinking in looking at the phenomena of sustainable development. With the system thinking approach, every stakeholder from local communities to policymakers will be interlinked in one single holistic framework aimed at solving the root causes, not just its symptoms. According to Rika, the concept of sustainability is not enough. Rika mentioned that the approach of sustainable development only aims to not destroy what’s left on earth, which means that it wants to retain the status quo of an already broken planet. Therefore, development planning should shift towards regenerative development, which does not only prevent unsustainable development but to also fix the system which sustains life itself. In the aspect of farming for example, the regenerative approach does not only aim to sustain the fertility of land, but also to increase its quality and quantity after harvest.

“Regeneration builds temporary capacity, while sustainability, even in its best condition, merely sustains. We can and need to do better, we need to do what’s best for this earth, and sustaining the current condition is not it,” Rika emphasized in their explanation.

On the other hand, Satya Dewastra from Ailesh introduced the sustainability-based entrepreneurship approach and circularity as a foundation for green transformation in Indonesia. Through the implementation of Life Cycle Thinking, Satya explained how Ailesh identified the social and environmental issues as opportunities for further innovation in the future, that is both regenerative and locally rooted. Satya also emphasized the importance of the 4P approach: Problem & Potential Mapping, Participatory Co-Design, Partnership Vision Alignment, and Progressive Strengthening & Monitoring, a collaborative framework that places civil society, private sector, the government, as well as academia in one ecosystem.

This webinar became a starting sign for the 9th Batch C-Hub Talent Pitching program. It is hoped that this program will be able to assist and develop social entrepreneurial ideas that can contribute to creating concrete solutions regarding local and global challenges. With that picture in mind, C-Hub Fisipol shows its commitment towards supporting the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals, such as Sustainable Development Goals 11 Sustainable Cities and Communities, Sustainable Development Goals 13 Climate Action, Sustainable Development Goals 14 Life Below Water, and Sustainable Development Goals 15 Life on Land. Through both an intersectoral approach, as well as collaborative spirit, C-Hub Fisipol affirms its roles in becoming the catalyst for social and environmental change in an effort to build a future that is inclusive, regenerative, and just.
