Faculty of Social and Political Sciences UGM Strengthens International Collaboration with UI and ANU through the Signing of an MoU and Development of Executive Programs

Depok, May 6, 2026─The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FISIPOL UGM), through the Department of Management and Public Policy (MPP), attended a strategic international collaboration agenda held at Building M, Faculty of Administrative Sciences, Universitas Indonesia (FIA UI), Depok Campus, on Wednesday (May 6).

This event marked a significant milestone in strengthening cooperation between the Center for the Study of Governance and Administrative Reform, Universitas Indonesia (CSGAR UI), Crawford School of Public Policy, The Australian National University (ANU), and FISIPOL UGM through MPP as the implementing unit.

The main agenda item was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which signifies a shared commitment to advancing knowledge exchange, collaborative research, and public service capacity development in Indonesia and Australia. This collaboration focuses on research-based capacity development for public servants at various levels of government through a jointly designed and implemented Executive Development Program (EDP).

This program will address various strategic issues, including collaborative governance, self-government and long-term self-sufficiency, anti-corruption and integrity, and various other public policy priorities relevant to the needs of the Indonesian and Australian governments.

In addition to the MoU signing, the event also included the launch and kick-off of the Executive Development Program (EDP), witnessed by the Deputy Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (PAN-RB) and the Head of the Indonesian Institute of Public Administration (LAN). The event continued with a policy talk show/public policy dialogue and a strategic follow-up meeting to discuss implementation steps and strengthening future cooperation.

On the same occasion, letters were exchanged regarding a planned double degree collaboration between the ANU Master of Public Policy (MPP) and the Master of Management and Public Policy (MPPM) Universitas Gadjah Mada . This meeting marked the first step in developing an international academic program that is expected to expand global learning opportunities for students from both institutions.

The agenda also included a collaborative meeting between the Department of Public Administration (DIANE) of the Faculty of Administrative Sciences, Universitas Indonesia (UI) and the Department of Public Administration (MPP) of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences Universitas Gadjah Mada to discuss opportunities for strengthening academic, research, and institutional capacity development in the fields of public administration and public policy.

This collaboration is expected to strengthen international academic networks while encouraging the development of adaptive, collaborative, and sustainable public service capacity to address future governance challenges.
