Yogyakarta, April 26, 2026─The deployment of Fisipol Mengajar volunteers to Central Aceh Regency and the Bala Gadjah Mada Team to the Indonesian Capital City (IKN) from January to February 2026 brought urgency to the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) to hold an event titled “Exhibition and Dissemination of FISIPOL Documentation in Aceh and IKN” on Friday (April 24). This event served as a collaborative space that bridged students’ empirical experiences with academic reflection and policy discourse. Fisipol Mengajar focused on community support in disaster-affected areas in Aceh, with an emphasis on post-disaster educational recovery and strengthening social interaction. Yogyakarta, April 24, 2026 – The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) UGM held an “Exhibition and Dissemination of FISIPOL Volunteer Documentation in Aceh and the IKN.” The event, themed “Recording Teaching, Reflecting on Learning, and Strengthening Service,” took place on Friday (April 24) at 1:00 PM WIB in the 4th Floor Auditorium and West Corridor of FISIPOL UGM.

The Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Gadjah Mada University, Dr. Wawan Mas’udi, expressed his appreciation for the students who are members of the Bala Gadjah Mada Setrajana team who have visited the IKN and the Fisipol Mengajar team in Aceh. “The venues are different, the activities seem different, but they share the same mission: the disaster situation and potential for disaster that require special attention from the campus, so I express my gratitude,” Wawan said in his remarks. read more

This exhibition presents the track records of two community service programs, namely FISIPOL Mengajar and Bala Gadjah Mada Setrajana.

Despite being in geographically distant locations, these two programs are bound by the same dedication to fundamental issues: education and ecological sustainability. A lecturer from the Department of Management and Public Policy (DMKP), Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FISIPOL UGM), Bevaola Kusumasari, together with Sakir Ridho Wijaya and Agus Pramusinto, has again achieved a notable academic milestone through the publication of an international journal article titled “How do Policy Network, Local Wisdom, and Green Economy Interact to Shape Sustainable Tourism Governance in Disaster‑Prone Areas?”. Yogyakarta, March 9, 2026—The Bala Gadjah Mada Team from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Gadjah Mada University (UGM), is promoting sustainable waste management in the communities of North Penajam Paser, East Kalimantan, to address the surge in waste in the buffer zone of the Indonesian Capital City (IKN).

Bala Gadjah Mada has promoted “Strengthening the Waste Bank Community” as its social project to address this waste problem. One of Bala Gadjah Mada’s members, Kholifa Tata Suharta, stated that the development of the IKN has impacted the surrounding areas, including the Pemaluan Village. He explained that the volume of waste has increased, while waste management capacity still relies on incineration or burial. read more

Yogyakarta, March 5, 2026─The Gadjah Mada Youth Team from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) completed a 14-day expedition, social project, and research program in the Indonesian Capital City (IKN). The team consisted of 12 students from the Faculty Student Activity Unit (UKMF) of the Nature and Environment Lovers Group (KPALH) of the FISIPOL Secretariat.

The activity, titled the Environmental Conservation Mission, ran from January 26 to February 10, 2026, and focused on mapping environmental governance, specifically waste management, while also providing concrete contributions to the communities in the buffer zone of the IKN, including Bumi Harapan Village, Pemaluan Subdistrict, and SMPN 27 Penajam Paser Utara (PPU). read more

Yogyakarta, January 22, 2026─The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) of  Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) sent off the National Capital Expedition Team on Wednesday (January 22) at the Faculty’s Dean’s Office. The team will conduct social research in Penajam Paser Utara Regency, East Kalimantan, as part of the students’ academic contribution to development and environmental issues.

The IKN Expedition Team consists of 12 students from five study programs under the Faculty Student Activity Unit Sentrajana. During this expedition, the team will conduct social research in two villages: Pamaluan and Bumi Harapan, with a focus on understanding and identifying environmental issues arising from the development of the National Capital area on the surrounding community. In addition to social research, the team will also conduct various educational campaigns to raise public awareness and concern for the importance of environmental sustainability. read more
