Yogyakarta, May 29, 2026─The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) organized a qurbani (animal sacrifice) event in celebration of Eid al-Adha 1447 H. The event, which took place in a solemn yet warm atmosphere, was held on Friday morning (29/5) in the Taman Pintar area of FISIPOL UGM.

The slaughtering procession began exactly at 07:30 WIB. For this year’s Eid al-Adha celebration, FISIPOL UGM sacrificed a total of three animals, consisting of one cow and two goats. The spirit of gotong royong (mutual cooperation) clearly colored the entire series of events. The implementation of the qurbani was directly attended by the staff and educational personnel (tendik) of FISIPOL UGM, who worked together hands-on, starting from site preparation, the meat cutting process, and weighing, to packaging it into distribution bags. read more

Yogyakarta, May 29, 2026─Graduation moments always bring a sense of relief and pride, and Muhammad Irsyad is no exception. On Thursday (21/5), Irsyad officially became one of the graduates of the Social Development and Welfare (PSdK) Study Program at FISIPOL UGM. Having a visual impairment was not an obstacle in his journey to earn a bachelor’s degree, a journey that provided him with many meaningful lessons. Starting college during the pandemic certainly presented difficult adaptation challenges, but Irsyad successfully proved that the situation did not deter his steps to obtain equal and quality access to education. read more

Yogyakarta, 26th of May 2026—The Department of Politics and Government Studies at Universitas Gadjah Mada (DPP UGM) held an awareness-raising event on addressing sexual violence and mental health.

The event was organized in response to growing public concern over cases of violence in academic settings, including student demonstrations at UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta demanding the dismissal of 11 faculty members suspected of sexual violence.

The Head of the Department of Politics and Government at UGM, AAGN Ari Dwipayana, emphasized that the department has the authority to take firm action in addressing issues of violence, but also provides ample space for recovery from the impact of such violence. “There is no tolerance for violence, but there is always room for recovery,” he said. read more

Yogyakarta, 25th of May 2026—-As part of the culminating assessment for the Social Campaign course, students from the Communication Studies program at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL), UGM, organized a social campaign. 

The event, which took place on Monday (May 25), was held in the Sansiro area at FISIPOL UGM. This activity served as an opportunity for students to translate course material into social interventions in public spaces.

Yogyakarta, May 22, 2026 — To equip students with advanced research skills, the Institute of International Studies (IIS) UGM held the Research Toolkit Training #2 on Friday (05/22). Taking place in the DIHI Common Room, BC Building 5th Floor, this offline training specifically delved into the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method. The event, which ran from 13:30 to 16:00 WIB, was widely open to undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as alumni of International Relations at UGM.

Amidst the flood of global literature, the SLR method was introduced as a relevant methodological tool to objectively map the development of knowledge (State-of-the-Art). Through structured and replicable data synthesis, participants were taught how to identify their research position among thousands of existing scientific publications. read more

Yogyakarta, May 21, 2026 — At the Period III Undergraduate Graduation of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) officially sent off 168 graduates. The solemn graduation ceremony, held in the west corridor of the faculty, was not only an academic celebration but also a moment of reflection for the graduates before directly entering society.

The Dean of FISIPOL UGM, Dr. Wawan Mas’udi, in his speech highlighted the crucial issue regarding educational privilege and the social responsibility now borne by the graduates. Yogyakarta, 20th May 2026—The Social Research Center at Gadjah Mada University, in collaboration with the Caksana Institute, held a public discussion to address issues with the Merah Putih Village Cooperative (KDMP) policy that threaten economic democracy.

Dr. Andreas Budi Widyanta, one of the speakers, emphasized that the current concept of KDMP has strayed far from the original ideals of Mohammad Hatta’s cooperative concept. “Cooperatives were born out of a shared need among their members, which were then managed democratically without the employer-employee divide. In contrast, KDMP is a tangible manifestation of state corporatism,” he asserted. read more
